Wally seeks the best Lobster Roll in Maine! Is it Red's Eats or McLoon's :-) Aug 2021
Wally’s travels for a week through Maine to realized a dream of having mouthfuls of sweet lobster!
He was inspired by a KZreadr who went though Maine a few month’s ago! I go to 4 of his suggested destinations.
1. Local suggestion was harraseeketlunc.... I loved the fried scallops here. The Whole lobster was a good deal as it came with clams.
2. Day's Crabmeat & Lobster daysmaine.com/ This was a good deal on live lobsters. I would get the 2 and 3 whole lobster deal next time
3. McLoons Lobster Shack mcloonslobster... The 8 ounce Lobster rolls Royce was amazing with large chunks of claw, knuckle and tail. The steamed lobster was amazing. I came here twice. It’s the one I would fly into Maine to eat again. The view was amazing. Come here first! It is a very far drive but worth it!!
4. Red's Eats www.redseatsma... This place is iconic for Maine. It’s said it has the #1 lobster roll. It was very fresh with claw, knuckle and Tail meat. This roll was amazing. I’d have it second on my list after McLoons. I would pass on the other stuff there. They don’t have a lobster pound so no live lobsters.
5. Five Islands Lobster Co fiveislandslob... I bought the $44 dollar big boy but the lobster meat didn’t see a fresh as McLoons or Reds. I didn’t get a live lobster here but I’m sure the would be amazing. All the live lobsters were at the differnet shacks.
6. Trenton Bridge Lobster Company trentonbridgel... I ordered both a live lobster and a roll. The roll was ok but the live lobster boiled in a wood fire boiler was amazing. It burned my hand with head as I was cracking the shell. It was crazy busy as I was leaving Acadia National park in the evening but it was not busy at 9 am when I went in.
7. Bite into Maine www.biteintoma... We went to the food truck in Fort William’s, There is a beautiful view and a lighthouse there. The rolls were Maine style with may or butter only (Connecticut style) using a teapot of melted butter or non traditional styles. We took Connecticut style and it was delicious!

I’m thinking of flying into Maine again and eating at Mcloons. The reopened may 26th 2024. Their lobster rolls are so fresh you can taste it!!
At least the bun is toasted nicely in Trenton.
As a native Mainer, I look for value when buying lobster rolls. Red ' s is over - hyped. McLoons is way better,but off the beaten path.
Sold - I am going next week - I am most excited about hitting McCloons after watching lots of videos - thank you Wally

Maine is fantastic, but certainly not the people. They will not stop attacking you like zombies until you leave the state.

You seem a little obsessed with Mark. There are hundreds of amazing places in Maine to get lobster rolls. Try Sprauges just across the road from Reds next time. You won't be disappointed

His research gave me ideas on four of the places. I found two others. Overall, all the lobster places were amazing in Maine. Always fresh. But if you a tourist with a must eat list. Mcloons was amazing. Each of these places were a several hour drive. I wanted to explore the extremes. I’ll try Sprauges next time. In planning to revisit Maine in summer 2024 and also try Maryland blue crab.

You don’t have to “crack” into your Lobster Roll bruv…they have already done that for you.

Live in Hanover PA 17331 😔 we have 2 lobster rolls within 40miles. 1 is $12.99 and like tuna salad. The other is okay portions for $40, but COVERED inside and out with Old Bay, you can't even taste the Lobster. Then they give you a butter dip for it 🤮 butter, old bay, and lobster? You can't even taste the Lobster for $40... 😔 Pretty sure I'm going to Maine this summer for a week. I'm sick in chemo now, and I always wanted to live by the water in Maine. I'm 46, 1 lung, sick a lot, times precious. I gotta get to Maine this summer or else I may never ever get to be there. 🙏

I’ve eaten at many lobster roll places. Last few were in Orlando. Nothing beats Maine. Well Boston has some good rolls too! But Maine rolls have claw, knuckle and the precious tail meat. The other places I’ve seen mainly knuckle and claw. You can’t go wrong with Maine and also get the fresh lobsters and the clams. It’s worth a visit. I also hit some of the other places including stuffed lobster but as you mentioned it clouds the freshness of the lobster. I didn’t video those places as they would be interesting for viewers. Mcloons is a very long drive to get to from my hotel. I’ll optimize my hotel next time :) Happy eating!

if it was a roll I'd get it. if it was in shell lobster I'd get it. if they offered both then I'd get both. it was delicious!!

Wally! please describe more when you eat... I want to know the texture, the flavors, is it sweet, savory, sour, bitter, salty; i want to know if people are friendly, how long that business has been there, the history of the place and more... I don't want to hear about Mark Wiens. I'm watching you not him.
Twice in the description, you mention “Melons". Is that a typo? Where is Melons? I’m not familiar with that and I don’t see it listed here.

You will not find one Mainer waiting in that ridiculous line at Red's Eats. Of all the tourist traps in Maine this over priced, over hyped joint takes the cake and you to the cleaners.

Got it! Mc loons was much fresher lobster. Red's Eats was good plump lobster. Quality wise it was good for the price. What else do you suggest? I might head out there again end of 2023 to hit them up again!
That Mark guy creeps me out. Wasn’t going to watch your video but you are much better than him. Something just isn’t right with that guy

Haha. Yeah that eye roll orgasmic schtick of his and the "its so muscular" makes me uncomfortable but man that guy can eat and can he eat spicy foods :) Thanks for the compliment. I'm going to keep crankin up the entertainment value of the videos along with the science of it!
I would definitely rather watch you eat than Mark Wiems. I can't watch that man. Yuk! Even though he does a good job reviewing places.

Awe thanks!!! It was exciting to eat those lobsters. I might fly in again this October. McLoons is amazing!!
I'll have to ask Biden to meet me in Maine next time we have a summit.
