Mr. Wilde might have been on to something... My childhood sweetheart (he met me at 8 days old when he was four) and I were separated by my mother, deliberately and cruelly when we were inseperable preschooler friends. We met up with each other about 12 years ago after almost 60 years. We chose not to be anything but friends since no one wants to inflict pain on families for what might have been, and now is not possible.

Wallace was a terrible social climber and she was attracted to Edward for his statis and wealth. I don't believe she thought she wouldn't be welcomed with open arms by the RF. She was probably surprised when he abdicated the throne for her as I think she thought she would be Queen. I bet she never dreamed of being exiled to France. Poor Wallace ended up with a fool.

@@layde1 my English is very questionable, but all I am saying is, there was no such a thing as a king doing wherever he wanted. You people elected a parliament to do that, the future of the UK was not in Edward’s hands, do you know what I mean? It was offered to him to keep it Simpson as mistress and rein. He refused, I don’t think it had anything to do with Simpson/Hitler, but with his popularity and the way he wanted to rein. He was more socialist, he wanted equality, some sort of equality. I watched a lots about him, I do think he was a special kind of man. With his brother as king, nothing changed, is it that right? Everything went smoothly as politicians wanted. This is my opinion by watching and observing royal family behavior, it is like “let’s not change anything, let’s keep the tradition”. By the way, I love the Queen Elisabeth, didn't change anything, but gosh she is loyal, to whom I don’t know, but she is.

Then she had no integrity: she did NOT have to marry him, King or not. If she had really loved him, she would never have let him destroy himself by abdicating. As he found out so tragically, a King cannot but be a King: an ex-King is like a eunuch who boasts of his own castration. Since she didn't love him, she married him to suit her ambition. She was a nasty woman who dominated a weak and unhappy man, who stupid though he was, did not deserve her. No one, however masochistic or willing, deserves to be humiliated and destroyed in this way by such an unpleasant person. No one. She did, however, do the British an enormous favour in removing a man patently unfit to be King from the throne. A King who betrays his people is degraded beyond measure. Especially for a woman such as this. Unhappily for the British, history may be repeating itself with Camilla and Meghan. No one but Prince Charles wants Camilla to be Queen. It is Diana that the people love. It is upsetting to see what a fool Prince Harry is making of himself with his hypocritical 'woke' preaching and his misguided and damaging but well-meaning campaigns on mental health and VD, ie HIV/AIDS . Let us all hope that HRH Prince William succeeds his grandmother HM Queen Elizabeth II, a most remarkable and gracious lady who has been magnificent as our Queen, instead. Let us also hope that anyone stupid enough or unfortunate enough to fall for people like Mrs Simpson sees the error of their ways in time, gets out, and finds real love with someone else capable of giving and receiving it.

The go for the gold guy can be very attractive and a good man at the same time. The struggle between the haves and the have nots is ongoing. Jealousy and envy skews our perception. What starts with admiration can quickly turn to hate. Princess Ann was always misunderstood, and has a big heart. Like her mother, she selflessly serves the people. She seldom seeks the limelight, if ever. Tabloid stories are pure fiction in my opinion. Don,t read them.

But Wallis Simpson was an innocent party when the abdication crisis broke out in December 1936 when King Edward VIII just months into his kingship broke down and announced to his subjects,"that I could not carry out my duties and responsibilities as King without the woman I loved." So finally King Edward VIII had abdicated but then the crisis had rocked the British throne in the months leading to the abdication. Wallis had to bear the brunt of attacks for it was she who had been the caused of the crisis.

You have to wonder if he was trying to avoid attachments to any that would have led to marriage (though they would not have been found acceptable by his parents, the King and Queen, and the British government). But apparently he was getting some need met by Wallis that others had not met, resulting him becoming so besotted with her that he abdicated (one has to wonder if he never actually wanted to be King but felt trapped by his birth. Wallis was the excuse to shuck it all and continue to live a life of privilege and parties).

There seems to be a ribbon of madness that runs through all of her relationships with men. To one degree or another. The only exception sends to be her first husband who was abusive to her. She was trained. Edward was weak. So sad.

If Wallace were to be loving to Edward, he would tire of her very quickly and seek divorce. The whole sado-masochistic and dominant/submissive flare of their relationship is what turns the Duke on. You must remember that being born with a silver spoon on his mouth is an understatement. He was heir from infancy, and only knew a life where people served him. For somebody to boss him around and bully him. You can only imagine the intense sexual gratification that must have given him.
