21:45 Meant to be 3 bolts; 1 bolt has sheered clean off and the other one is missing completely 😂 now down to the final one holding that brace down. I loved watching this! Brilliant behind the scenes footage. And how the ride is so handmade / evolved over time leaving parts of the old history in like that railing by the old restaurant I never knew about or experienced sadly.

A great insight! My earliest theme park memory is riding The Goldmine as a child, and entering into this cafe/River Caves wonderland scene from above. I was absolutely amazed. It was many years before I knew what the ride was actually called as I was only very young and we didn’t visit much.

Really interesting vlog!! Loved seeing the scenes inside, also how the track works was pretty interesting. Keep up the good work. Maybe a live Q + A before your trip next week 🙏
Awh that's such a cool Vlog guys. I remember the restaurant and the dining area/railings next to the river caves, as a kid, and also the Gold Mine ride from above, was one of my faves as it was so long and a little eerie and seemed to go down forever and then worked its way back up... We took the little ones last year and Wallace& Gromit is their favourite ride. It still smells the same in there too!! Planning some European trips this year so your upcoming plans will come in handy, cheers guys!
Nice vid man

Brilliant guys thank you so much
Great video. I've never been on Wallace and Gromit but I have been on Gold Mine many times during childhood holidays in Blackpool and I remember that cafe very well. I remember it was themed with trees inside. You could look over the banister onto the River Caves lagoon and watch the Gold Mine rattle overhead. Sad to see the cafe isn't there anymore. Ask them to bring it back lol 😊

Thank you so much guys, brilliant video that takes you behind the scenes on these rides. Alton Towers should do something similar, would love to do "Walk Oblivion". Another one I could think of is a ghost walk around the towers, or even stay the night. Would love to do either of them and wouldn't be the only one.

I restore and recreate medieval armour for a living. I clicked on this because just like Wallace... I LOVE RIVETS! 😂🤣🙈⚒️🇬🇧 Best wishes from a French forest. I like your energy. 🏆
What a fantastic experience, thanks for sharing it. It’s always fascinated me how they design these type of rides. And it’s great to see some remnants of the restaurant, I remember you used to enter it through an ice cream parlour that is on the left side of the ghost train. Used to love watching the boats and gold mine go past. 😊

Have fond memories of when it was the Goldmine and rode it many times. Living in Blackpool in the 1980s I loved the old school Pleasure Beach attractions some no longer here especially a rainy day at the funhouse in grey stockingfeet.
My favourite uk dark ride! Going to Blackpool in July and I’m very excited to go on this again.

Amazing ❤
I know its basically the goldmine layout, but I love Wallace and gromit, I remember that restaurant, and because their was so much mist, that the salt in the salt cellars would be damp and it wouldn't come out, so that was the only problem with river caves near a restaurant
always good to get behind this attraction!

It's criminal that this changed from the goldmine to an IP based ride, the Goldmine was so original.

I never even knew this ride existed! But the last time i went to Blackpool Pleasure Beach was in 1999, so that may explain why! I'd like to go back cos i only got to go on about half the rides at the time. Of course it wont be the same without the Wild Mouse...
0:01 I'm A Huge Wallace And Gromit Fan. Thanks Mate. X

I’m pretty sure the ‘chicken restaurant’ was called ‘The Cotton Club’? Yeah, I’m old enough to remember going in there for some southern fried chicken and watching the boats going round below on the river caves and the ore cars of the goldmine trundling through with happy guests. Great interaction reminiscent of the restaurants on the Pirates of the Caribbean rides at Disney parks.
