In my future dream house I’m going to go with the Joe Jenkins toilet- a 5 gallon bucket in a beautiful wood cabinet and space for the cover material. Good composting heap in the backyard, no plumbing problems from the toilet, ever.

This is reminding me of the old red and white trailer redo. Thats when I found your channel. ❤

I've seen a lot of floor mounted toilets that are wobbly because the residents don't sit on the toilet, they kind of lean back and fall on the toilet; it doesn't take very long before the attachments break and WALA wobbly toilet. I've never run into a wobbly wall mounted toilet (usually medical settings) so I'm guessing they can withstand some heavy-duty wear and tear. As a senior citizen I'd appreciate the easier cleaning aspect. Don't let the negative Nellies get you down, I've learned over a lifetime of experience people who are unhappy with their lives have a need to drag everyone down to their level. Love your content!

We in Germany have hanging toilets since over 40 years. It’s absolutely better than standing toilets. Geberit is an very good German product. Good job, Doug! Best wishes from Hamburg Germany.

I love that you show us when you’re changing your plans based on what you discover in the moment. That’s how real projects really go. You guys are doing great things and I appreciate your lessons.

To reduce or eliminate overheating a holesaw, first barely start the holesaw to mark its kerf, then drill a deep small hole (1/2”) just inside the kerf to let the sawdust escape from the kerf, then continue with the holesaw. Overheating is usually caused by the holesaw’s teeth being plugged with sawdust. It is best to drill the small hole clear through, but even mostly through will help.

I love these toilets. We had ours installed 20 years ago. Still pristine, no leaks, easy clean especially with three boys.

What I enjoy, is that you make mistakes and then you fix it and explain how and why. It makes a huge difference.

My dad has wall mount toilets in his house. They are from the 70's and when they need replaced it's a huge expense because you can't get that brand anymore. But I've always liked them.

Doug, you are correct when you mention about how we're anatomically created to go to the bathroom. I'm wondering if any of us were ever made aware of how wrong we are in our bathroom habits. Gives a whole new meaning to 'squatting', so now I'm literally online researching toilet stools. Also, as a woman that's never owned a toilet brush, what you're installing would be a dream come true for me! Easy cleaning! Love the knowledge you and Eevee always impart to us! Exactly! I’m sure this total gut and Reno will come in less than the cost of a new single wide. I paid less than 46K for my DW in 2001. Prices are close to triple that now.

That's a cool looking toilet. It's going to make the mobile home a little fancy 😊 I used to take those cores from the hole saw and use them as wheels and make little wooden cars and give them away to neighborhood kids. Wishing you the best as you continue with the plumbing.

You guys thing is..us elderly folks do not like a low toilet. Especially with no handicap handles to grab onto. It's too hard to get off of. But I do love the style of that toilet.❤

I love the idea of a wall hung toilet . Today I noticed all those dips and lumps and white topped screws that comprise the average American Standard Toilet base were covered in dust . It was troublesome to get in and around all the porcelain terrain down there in the narrow space in which the toilet resides . With knees that hate the sort of contortions required I talked to myself resentfully while cleaning ,complaining what a silly inconvenient design it is.And what do you know , there you were with the solution ! No help to me actually, a change is impossible for us now due to a number of reasons, but it is nice to see people’s minds have worked on an excellent solution.❤

I am quite impressed with the wall-hung toilet. The ease of cleaning is a great selling point. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll ever be in a position to have one installed but that's okay. I know you are so very careful with the details and taking baby steps with the plumbing is probably a very good idea. I'm sure you will get everything worked out just right.

As an older person who has had both hips replaced.. a higher toilet is very helpful.. it is called “aging in place”

Hubby is a plumber and when he changed our typical toilet to a comfort height, elongated, with a soft close seat & lid, we will never have it any other way. Doug, I was surprised that you wanted it that low, especially as tall as you are. As you get older, it isn't fun to stoop low to sit on a toilet but I understand we all like things DIYFFERENT. You always think things through, mostly (van), and get it done.

He's 5'9", so not too tall. He only looks taller since these ceilings are only 7 feet tall. We initially wanted the seat height to be at the standard toilet height, but then we decided to raise it up to dinner chair height because we wanted the toilet to be off the floor a bit more.

I love it when the closed captions label the power tool sounds as music. So funny!

I use Air Admittance Valves. No holes in the roof. That is what I did. They work great.

We had wall mounted toilets in Germany and I love them way more than our standard toilets here in the states. Cleaning them and the bathroom is so much better and easier. I will be installing them in our earthly forever home for sure.

Until.you I've never seen this style of toilet before...I like it. I have watched your channel for years and love you and the kids. You always make my day. Hugs

toilets are one of those things that I stick with what I know. I understand the concept of a wall hung toilet but knowing that it's more complicated than a standard floor toilet would drive me crazy. however, unless your floor is way out of wack which yours could be. you can put shim boards under the toilet once its installed on the finished floor and cut them right at the edge of the toilet base, it will take up that void and you won't even notice it. just a tip for you if you ever come across a crooked floor like this in the future and you want a standard toilet

Depending on the building codes in your area, you might want to consider using mechanical vents in some cases. On a mobile home this was standard practice as it is not always easy to find a way to vent the plumbing. A mechanical vent would allow you to vent without having to go through the roof. I would check your building codes as well as your overall plan for your plumbing.

Great job Doug, I like 17" for seat height & I am 6'3" tall with 36" inseam. What I find fascinating about toilet flushing or any water drain for that matter is the Coriolis Effect. North of the equator = water swirls in a clockwise direction, and South of the equator it swirls counter clockwise. Some toilet jets can counter this force.

I like the wall mounted toilet. Unfortunately with an older home it wouldn’t be cost effective to put one in. We are also looking to downsize our home in the next couple of years, sooner if possible. I got a little concerned when Doug had a smoking drill. I can’t wait to see the tiles and walls up in the new bathroom. I’m still loving the tile in your bathroom at home. Geberit is a German company. I have been working with the products for over 20 years. I have been installing Geberit toilet holders in private homes and companies in Germany for 15 years. The long feet are not a construction error. In Germany we usually have a high floor structure of up to 25 cm (pre-wall elements)

Maybe too late but toilets are set to 15”/17”….ADA height for a toilet is 17”/19”…..wall hung toilets are used for sanitary conditions (cleaning under it). Carrier bracket must be secure to keep the outlet from rocking when sitting on it.

Yep, I discussed the standard heights in the video. I would say most people like them for the clean look and space saving features. The carrier was securely lag screwed into the framing. It's solid. We got it covered :)

I love the wall toilet however you should remember that you should adjust the height to who you think the future owner will be. Yes your recommendation for a lower height is healthy however people with knee issues find it difficult to use an older toilet at that height. Not a criticism just my two cents from a person who has knee issues.❤

We put the toilet at dining room chair height, which is above standard height. The height we did is in the range of being ADA compliant. Really can't get any higher than what we did. And we only did that so we'd have more space between the toilet and floor.

I am an old person, living in a mobile home, and my toilet is pretty low. It is OK because there is a door right in front of it I can use to help me stand up. I really like it low, and do not have trouble getting down or up... because of that door. I have used those higher toilets you referred to, and they were pleasant to use, but I am 100% happy with what I have. I never thought about it also being closer to the position your body needs.

If I was buying a home, and they said the house has wall mounted toilets, l would be like, l will take it! That is the hardest for me to keep clean around the floor. ❤❤❤❤

I have the same Villeroy&Boch bowl (I think). My bowl is 10 inches high and the top of the bowl is at 16 inches, leaving a gap of 6 inches between the floor and the bottom of the bowl. More than enough for cleaning. The toilet seats will add an inch, so it will be 17 inches high. In The Netherlands 17 inch is now becoming the standard height I think. I installed it a year ago. The other toilet in my house is 15.5 inches high and is now considered to be low. It was installed 25 years ago. Take your time to be sure about the height because once installed adjusting the height will take some demolition....
