I suggest you offset your real estate and get into stocks, A recession as bad it can be, provides good buying opportunities in the markets if you're careful and it can also create volatility giving great short time buy and sell opportunities too. That is way too diversified (: Many people invest or trade the markets on the back of a hunch or simply knowing a particular brand name or product. This can often work, but it’s often down to chance. The truth is that you can improve the chances of success significantly with data, the phrase “data doesn’t lie” does have merit….

It’s always challenging. I basically just let my CFA do all the research, while I enjoy market returns and crack on with something interesting. Her experience has been invaluable in identifying profitable opportunities for my portfolio.

Look another Nvidia to Cisco comparison. NVDA is 3x cheaper than Cisco at its peak, and is rotating its business model into cloud to avoid the cyclical nature of hardware. But hey, that doesn’t get clicks. Volatility skew increasing which is great for day traders. Widen your stops. You also lost company buy backs, so your down moves are going to be more vicious because we lost a buyer over the next 4-6 weeks. Same thing happened 3 months ago during blackout period

The 45 year EW technician Peter Goodburn said 3 weeks ago that 5500 SPX would be the top for the year and a big sell off would begin. He also said SPX 2900 and NDX 9500 by around FEB/March 2025.

You talk about tech PE ratio's but that doesn't really related to market crashes. Look how much lower the tech PE was on 2008 GFC compared to now. The risk we have is anther credit crunch banking crisis which could be triggered by residential and commercial real estate this time...

This time we are seeing a mixture of both. Like Tom mentioned, we aren’t super high on PE yet but above the long term trend. Combine that with the CRE crisis and over leveraging by consumers, this will pop. The yield curve has been predicting this for a very long time. It’s only a matter of when.

Tesla feels more like a company finding its consolidation bottom. If margins increase this quarter and they can show a future of revenues outside of cars at larger margins. A large short covering will happen

The big drop in Nvidia was a market play to destroy the retail longs who'd been piling on board forcing them to sell at high prices. Nvidia will head back to $140 plus very quickly as the big boys scoop it up at these low prices. Can't see it lingering at the £110 for months. It's too good a stock and it's relatively cheap.

Basically, to understand the scale of 2000s bubble, just look up for the numbers. Cisco at its peak $569b, second largest msft $149b, its 26% of cisco market cap. Msft today is $3,343t, that should make nvda to be $12,857t. So, we are faaaar away from the 2000s bubble for sure

Those of us looking for when to move our pension funds into more risk off portfolios. The latter half is better for those looking to day-trade. Which in my experience is more exciting, but way more risky. Very few manage to turn a profit. Many are basically just gamblers justifying their addiction on the grounds of it being white-collar stuff. Feels like investments, but day-trading much more like sports betting. Great fun, and I do it, but only with a very small percentage of my money. A good way to lose your monthly savings fast!

@@benjaminsmart6276 Knowldege is power. Those who know first, position best. I was thinking today: The first people who know in individual stocks are typically insiders, right? As retail, I realized the best way we can “know faster” in the immediate moment is learning and understanding the charts/strategies/being able to recognize indicators. But those who understand how money actually works and its role in the world? They can (and have in my opinion) figure out what’s under the hood of indicators/the assets you hold. Some people buy groceries and ask why but don’t bother to go further than that. Some people could have seen the slow increase of Amazon trucks in their world and never thought twice about it. I worked at fed ex (why I used Amazon as an example). I saw a LOOOT of specific brand companies moving in those trucks. It was during the pandemic, and I invested in those things and banked. I think you’re not supposed to discuss things but this was like 4 years so eff it- I saw a LOT of Pelaton moving during the pandemic… like a LOT. I also work in fitness and I knew pelaton was a phase. Didn’t invest I that specifically because of my background. I would train at the track everyday- nobody. Pandemic hits and half the world was at the track, couldn’t even get my own lane…and they say, only trade what you believe in. I knew those people wouldn’t be at the track forever. I figured pelaton was the equivalent of a New Year’s resolution. Good for a little then abandoned. Look at its share price now…
