My roommate in college wanted so bad to be Wall Street type guy. First 2 years kinda meandered through courses getting mostly Bs in his Economics major. He was just kinda naturally booksmart. This film and later the Game with Michael Douglas were his inspiration. We used to mess with him and call him Mr Van Orton after Douglas's character. He later graduated and is founder of Global Wealth MGMT. Very succesful beyond comprension. Rang the bell at NYSE few years ago. Which i unddrstand is huge deal. Regular spots on FOX business shows. We all proud of ya Jimmy🙂

I see Wall Street as an amazing enigma. It was enlightening to realize that Stone went from winning an academy award for a war film to flipping straight away to a wall street movie that was a huge risk. The balls. The level of consciousness. The master craftsman and artist. Amazing.

I only saw two movies in a theater when I was 16. One was Platoon and the other Wall Street. To this day two of my favorites.

not being a smart ass here but how exactly was it a huge risk? it was a dramatic movie (like platoon), featured a fictionalised but plausible plot against a real setting (like platoon), featured already established stars and and charlie sheen (like platoon)...i'm really not seeing where the big risk lies in making a movie like wall street after platoon.

I started as a stockbroker in 1987 when the film was being made -- purely a coincidence -- one of my favorite movies ever. Great performances by both Sheens & especially by Michael Douglas!!! Fantastic movie! I was a broker for 25 years.

Stone says, "Early steady cam". For a film made in 1986, released in 1987. Early steady cam would have been 1975...Rocky on the steps. The shine is coming off .

This is a really good commentary track. I wish I had heard it decades ago when I had seen the film, as it pointed out a lot of details that made me enjoy it more.

Much Much respect for uploading. This movie is pure magic and stone is a sheer genius. He's all about the details. In that park scene at the end where gekko decks fox. If you notice Gordon greets him first, when fox first meets Gordon at the start he introduces himself. But now fox Is the one with the power at the park and Gordan speaks to him first. In Scarface another stone classic Tony Montana calls Elvira "pussy cat" when their fighting and the relationship is going south but when he is in lust with her he calls her a tiger. It's these little attention to details that makes stones films so re-watchable and stands the test of time. And btw I just farted.

It's the only Stone film I don't have on Blu-Ray with commentary (copies are rare and therefore expensive, wish Criterion would get on that!). It also broke the ice for business films. Poor Daryll Hannah had too much class fot that role. I believe her father was a great hedge fund manager.way b4 the street was flooded with them. She may also have not wanted to PLAY a gold digger while datingJFK, JR, " Not to insult reptiles.AS A FEMINE GIRL ON wall street I think Oliver absolutely nailed her role. His humility is impressive especially for the 80s. Not Take Your Daughter to Work Day; strictly, Take your Niece to a Conference.!
