Wall Street and the Bolshevik Revolution | An Interview with Professor Anthony C. Sutton

How Wall Street, the United States, and the European great powers helped the Bolsheviks take and consolidate power in Russia. A classic interview with Professor Antony C. Sutton, from 1987. Professor A. Sutton taught economics at California State University and was a research fellow at Stanford University's Hoover Institution from 1968 to 1973. During his time at the Hoover Institute, he wrote the major study “Western Technology and Soviet Economic Development” (in three volumes), arguing that the West played a major role in developing the Soviet Union from its very beginnings up until the present time (1970). Sutton argued that the Soviet Union's technological and manufacturing base, which was then engaged in supplying the Viet Cong, was built by United States corporations and largely funded by US taxpayers.
This video is produced as part of the project for the book "The Romanov Royal Martyrs”, which is an impressive 512-page book, featuring nearly 200 black & white photographs, and a 56-page photo insert of more than 80 high-quality images, colorized by the acclaimed Russian artist Olga Shirnina (Klimbim) and appearing here in print for the first time.

There is probably some misinformation in it... And low and behold, I just heard it... They are blaming "socialism" which is what all capitalist communists do! Socialism is literally when the people own their nation and not the other way around like capitalism and communism. So it is the natural enemy of both.

Anybody read Ian Vorres fantastic book based on his talks with Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna? Near the end she goes on a small rant (and its all true!) on how the allies used Russia as a human shield all throughout the war only to turn its back on her when it needed them more then anything. How fast they were to recognize the Provisional Government after Nicholas abdicated. How fast they rushed to the new government officials to make sure Russia stayed in the war and offered little relief for the Eastern front even though Russia was clearly struggling. How they completely ignored Grand Duke Alexander Mikhailovich in Paris when he tried to tell them how bad things in Russia were. How fast they were to enter Russia during the civil war to grab precious rich materials for themselves. How fast they were to approve and recognize the formation of new "countries." It's no shock they wanted the Bolsheviks to win. They were never Russia's allies, they always hated her. They only wanted Russia's blood to protect and relieve themselves against the Germans and didn't care what happened to her. To this very day they are still trying to destroy Russia!

"At the center of oligarchy is the idea that certain families are born to rule as an arbitrary elite, while the vast majority of any given population is condemned to oppression, serfdom or slavery. Oligarchs identify wealth purely in money terms, and practice usury, monetarism and looting. they always create a breakdown crisis in civilization. The pillar of the oligarchical system is the family fortune." - Webster Tarpley (historian and author) and James Higham (writer, author).

It's not only the oligarchical system. The family structure is an immediate extension of the perceived self you are trying so hard to keep alive and improve. It is the fatal error of the human condition, the identification with the mortal body instead of the acceptance of mortality and the reality of the interdependence of the individual and the outside world. Removing corrupt oligarchs from power is like trying to empty the boat with your boot while it's half sunk. Corruption is built in the animalistic conditioning of the human being that he the human is meant to grow out of. The new man is indeed the solution to all of our problems however this can not be imposed by society os systems of tyrannical rule, we have to observe and come to terms with our conditioning in order to accept it. Unfortunately most are glued to the informational pipeline fed by those who have designed the system of oppression and chances are we will not be able to escape our ego pull and end-up wiping ourselves out of this planet.

The interview with Professor Anthony C. Sutton discusses the intriguing involvement of Wall Street, the United States, and European powers in the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia. Sutton, who taught economics at California State University and was a research fellow at Stanford University's Hoover Institution, delves into the financial and logistical support that key Bolshevik figures, namely Lenin and Trotsky, received from abroad, enabling them to execute and solidify their revolutionary goals. ### Key Points from the Interview: - **Trotsky's Time in New York**: Sutton describes how Trotsky lived in New York with an apparent income of about $600 for the year, yet he enjoyed luxuries like an apartment, a chauffeur-driven limousine, and a rare refrigerator. When Trotsky left for the revolution, he carried $10,000 in gold, far exceeding his known income, indicating he was financed from New York. - **Trotsky's Journey to Russia**: The British intercepted Trotsky en route to Russia in Halifax, Canada. Despite recognizing him as a revolutionary threat, instructions from London soon came to allow him and his party to proceed, facilitated by a passport issued by President Woodrow Wilson and financial support from New York financiers. - **Lenin's Return to Russia**: Lenin, then in exile in Switzerland, traveled to Russia through Germany in a "sealed train" with the German general staff's permission and encouragement, despite Germany and Britain being at war. This paradox highlights the complex international interests in seeing the Bolshevik Revolution succeed. - **Consolidation of the Revolution**: Sutton emphasizes that the revolution, initiated by a relatively small group of about 10,000 revolutionaries, required external support to succeed and sustain itself. This support came not only from Germany and Britain but also from the United States, showcasing a confluence of interests that saw the Bolshevik Revolution as serving their broader objectives. ### Implications and Analysis: Sutton's analysis presents a compelling narrative that Western powers and financial elites played a significant role in facilitating the Bolshevik Revolution, driven by a complex web of geopolitical and economic interests. This involvement included providing crucial support to key revolutionary leaders, enabling their return to Russia and the execution of the revolution, and continuing assistance to ensure its consolidation. This narrative challenges traditional views of the Bolshevik Revolution as a purely internal Russian event, suggesting instead that it was deeply influenced by international actions and interests. Sutton's research into financial transactions, government archives, and historical documents provides a basis for understanding the extent to which external powers were involved in one of the 20th century's most significant political upheavals. The interview sheds light on the intricate relationships between political power, financial capital, and revolutionary movements, illustrating how historical events are often the result of interactions between domestic forces and international dynamics.

soviet union was an experiment. the socialist experiment was then exported to america where marxist theories were taught in school, and then repeated en masse to generation after generation, resulting in the movements you see today, feminism, gender theory, civil rights. the collapse of soviet rule is basically a result of self destruction that later on led to anarchy and neo despotism, which would also inevitably be the result for america should marxism continue

It didn't really collapse. As professor Sutton rightly pointed out, America was most responsible for creating Communist Russia. America was about to go in and create havoc in Iran and Iraq, and with Russia a supposed ally of Iran, people might start wondering where the hell Russia was. The phoney collapse gave America a free hand to do whatever it wished in the middle east and no one would wonder where Russia was, because of coarse, they collapsed...wink wink.

Using the chance we would like to say that if you are interested in the truth about the life and death of the last Romanov family, as well as to what really took place in Russia during that turbulent era, then we highly recommend our book, which offers previously unpublished materials strictly from primary and archival sources. Our book brings to light a multitude of unknown and unrevealed facts, which evince that many truths remain silenced or distorted to this day. You exaggerate. It is true that Soviet Union hired many Western specialists around 1930, the spets as they were called. It is true also that many of the greatest projects of industrial and architectural construction were submitted to international calls for tender. But as a rule they were hired as individuals, with experience in companies of course, but sympathetic to the left on recommendation by communist road companions. Stalin fired them en masse after use, and many ended up in Gulags. It is true that pre-revolutionary Russia had a quite fine technological elite but so had India during most of the 20th century : most of the country was illiterate and that educated elite was very conceited and considered the illiterate peasants as their enemies, as we see today in the USA's silicon valley. The NYC financiers that pushed for a revolution in Russia had one short-term objective in mind : torpedo Russia as a grain-exporting power so as to leave American grain exporters the monopoly of commodities to war-torn Europe. They didn't intend that the Bolsheviks stay in power. They would have rather liked a corrupt parliamentary system.

So hard to know the truth! Stutton uses the term "Corporate Socialism", which is rather hard to digest. I can see why the bankers and corporates would want to profit at any cost! 10k in gold given to Trotsky seems like a small price to pay when they could recover much more from the resource rich USSR through political favors. That is what this whole thing seems to be about. On the one hand it is true that Capitalists prefer a parliamentary/democratic system domestically, but in foreign lands it is usually a dictatorial regimes that they prefer!

Sutton coincides precisely with the diaries of Maj. George Racey Jordan in the hand-over-fist exportation of US tech to the Soviets. His book and lecture should raise hairs on the back of anyone's neck.

War is peace. We are animals in animal farm. The slaughterhouse is necessary part of life. George Orwell understood all this a longtime ago.

Human farming is a profitable business, the animals are totally unaware of their domestication. And yes they have to slaughter their stock from time to time because war is also very profitable! 😊

Until doing too good of a job and stopped advancing, ordered not to. And policy was to contain Communism. As with Central America/Caribbean nations, 1920's and 1930's USA kept these down. Then, backed off, same with Cuba, President Bautista into exile.

At the time of Dr. Antony Sutton's death, the local medical examiner seem to have avoided the details of the autopsy that he performed on Dr. Sutton's body. The medical examiner only said that Sutton just died and that was it. I read this somewhere on the internet a few years ago. It sounds to me that after so many years Sutton did get 'whacked.'
