    I bought these exact brackets, good to know I made a wise choice. I was going to swap out the brackets from the old handrail, but realized repairing the old handrail would be more work than I originally thought. So now I'm looking at building a new one.

    I like these better than the brackets with two screws into the wall. Those have the screws to close together and that is why I like the single screw.

    Thanks for the tips. The length of the 90 degree block and how to pin it helped a lot.

    I like the slide correction. Good tips. Too late for me.., I already bought the three hole mount brackets a few days ago. I was going to block out between the studs anyways for the sake of even and sensible placement of the brackets…so no big whoop. My realtor told me to install a railing in prep to sell.

    You can swap them out :) I really don't like the two hole ones. It seems you always have to angle one screw to catch the stud. and it's too close to the stud to put an anchor. I am sure it will turn out fine :)

    How would you feel about using a dowel or two to join a connection like this? I’m not a woodworker just curious if that could be a practical approach.

    This CA glue is a permanent bond, you cannot pull it apart. You will split or pull apart the other wood first :) No dowel or nails needed. The point of this glue is no fasteners are needed and it quick! Thanks!

    How do you handle the transition mite from stair handrail to horizontal at landing? Thanks

  • @ArtisanTony

    @ArtisanTony

    7 ай бұрын

    In residential, that transition is not required but for commercial work where ADA applies, you can miter it for the horizontal transition for about a foot then turn to the wall. Thanks!

    Do I only need to add one screw to the return handrail?

  • @ArtisanTony

    @ArtisanTony

    2 жыл бұрын

    I am always afraid to add more than one trim screw due to the possibility of splitting the rail but we glue it also which I don't remember if we show or not. The screw holds it until the glue dries.
