Solid, I’ll be going with walksnail. Though DJI seems to have some what better interception, but love the idea of being able to have multiple builds

Currently looking at getting into the hobby and definitely want to do freestyle/tinywhoops with the occasional cinematic long range. I’m running into the whole what ecosystem to go with problem. What do you recommend dji 2 w/03 or goggle x w/ hd x ???

Each system has there pros and cons. The Goggles X had some heating issues on some goggles, a new firmware has taken to load off some components to help with temp regulation. It is also future proof with new RF boards being made to swap out the original giving more features as it progresses. I havent had the chance to mess with the Goggles 2 and O3 much but my friends I fly with enjoy it and don't notice any latency difference with the higher quality video options. It all comes down to preference really, Goggles X has future proofing, DJI does not future proof but make new products each year meaning you would have to get a new set of Goggles each time if you want to stay up to date with their components.

Hey, thanks for the review! I am about to choose the first system for fpv. i have strong astigmatism and need prescription lenses. in the official documentation of the goggles it says that the lenses are changeable but no reviewer showed that feature that its possible to remove the stock lenses. is it possible to remove them?

Yo no problem ! Idk if there have been any replacement lenses to test out yet. I think its taking a moment to get some third party accessories for the Goggles X.

Only walksnail vtx's, vista's are for DJI

DJI V1 user. Very happy with them especially with wtfosd & vista. But, I want to fly whoops on HD. Waited & waited for many years for a 1S system from DJI. Given up & made the plunge with the X and 1S lite system. Intent is fly my vista's on the bigger stuff until they die( seems unlikely as they are apparently bullet proof) & whoops on the X. Suck that I am now in two different ecosystems.....

I've been flying both systems for the past year and enjoy the variety that it brings. I've got vista's hooked up to my long range quads and walksnail for freestyle. It was a huge bummer that dji didn't make a whoop style board but then again they are more focused on consumer products than the fpv community.

@TakeItToTheGround, I am almost in the same situation and would like your opinion on Walksnail X vs DJI V1. I have V1 using WTFOS, but I'm sick of the DJI shenanninans and want to switch to a different system altogether if possible. Big question, is it worth switching over to Goggles X and all walksnail, or just keep flying the DJI V1s with Runcam Links and other old VTX's? I just hate when I buy a new plane or multirotor and end up buying further into the DJI system.

@@DavidTaghehchian Walksnail have been very slow to ship my order. I should have it in a few days/week and will report back then. However, my plan is simply to use Walksnail for whoops, so all I can tell you about is then will be the tiny lite system vs DJI V1's using a vista. I am expecting OLED screens to be impressive.

@@DavidTaghehchian Well I've got the X & put on the latest beta firmware and the FCC & power settings ( don't need in my case) files. I bought the bundle with the Moblite7 V3 with the lite walksnail vtx. My thoughts. When I first used the DJI V1's after analog it blew me away. That HD newbie effect with any HD system is gone, but definitely a step up from DJI V1's. I've no idea about the comparison with DJI's latest. So much more comfortable as well. Screen is very good & I can focus on it all without issue, which I struggled with on the DJI V1's. I'm only running 25 mw with 1080p on the moblite7. Picture is fantastic. I can't find a part of my two story house where I get any signal degradation, so no need in my case to use any higher power settings. In fact I could probably have stuck to CE mode. However... Summer here, and the coolest day by miles by 10-15 Celsius. Even on 25 mw the vtx lite was reporting overheating after 3-4 minutes of light cruising. That's a bit concerning. Is overheating an issue with all walksnail VTX's or just the 1S boards? BTW: Goggles also run hot but no warnings about over heating so far with them.

I have the V1s, the images looked rather washed out colour wise TBH. Not sure if thats poor light or camera settings perhaps..?...Foreground blurring was rampant too on the grass....Man, something is wrong somewhere...Maybe its that 100 FPS framerate?...🤔😳🇬🇧

I think I had some smearing on the V1s but the goggles x I haven't noticed any smear on the grass, ive used V1 VTX, mini 1s and the V2 vtx and all have clear images through the goggles. Could be some setting on the V1 that could be fixed. I still need to try the latest firmware on the V1s and see if it's improved image quality

Do these work with analog out-of-the-box or is a separate module required?

You will need a separate analog module for it, I believe walksnail is coming out with their own module to use with the goggles x

Guess that's why HDZero goggles cost more - at least they have a freakin' bay for an analog module though it's dumb it still requires a separate module AND a stupid adapter :/

@3nertia these are definitely not going to focus on analog as much as the other features sadly, unless they announce something in the near future it's just an extra feature to have with the goggles. These are more aimed towards the vtxs and 4k camera that just came out.

@@freebsfpv Which would be nice to use in the future but I'm just getting into fpv (only have a Radiomaster Boxer and a few sims so far) and analog is cheaper starting out. Though I do eventually want a 4k cinewhoop and I hate DJI heh. It just sucks that these goggles are cheaper than the HDZero goggles but don't even include the bay to attach an analog vrx even though it had the input for it; seems like merely an afterthought :/

I love mine except 1 big thing. The face foam sucks!! Other than that I'm super happy

I like them more than my v2's. I flew both systems yesterday and their is a big difference in image quality. The V2's were more pixelated while the Goggles X had a clearer image and breakup wasnt as pixelated. Latency is around the same so no issues there. If you're willing to migrate everything to walksnail I say go for it, its not the best of the best but it definitely is a good system.

I want to buy into this system so bad for the micro VTX's, but I just keep seeing something that bothers me... Like at 15:32-15:36 of your video, the area around you is rendered at complete mush. However this system builds its image, it seems to ignore texture and it doesn't care if it's right in the center of the frame.

I'll have to check it out again, it's been minute since I've slown my 5 inch quads lol. From what I remember I didn't notice any blurring in the goggles. I still need to test the V3 race vtx, ill definitely have a video up for that one soon.

Yeah no problem! If you end up getting the system let me know your experience with it. It's great that they're pushing out firmwares, the beta firmware is great so I'm excited to see a stable version of it so everyone can enjoy

From what I've seen on forums they can go the distance, I'm working on a long range drone right now just waiting for another vtx so I can try it out myself. If you're on Facebook check out the Walksnail group page, it's sort of a shit show but there are good posts on their that relate to long range.

The goggles do get hot on the right side due to the fan not being able to get cool air but I only had one time where it shut off on me because I had my heater on blast in the car lol It would be better if they found a way to up the voltage on the fan so it can get more cool air in or had the fan placed closer to the middle so it can get cool air all around the googles.

The HDMI in does not work well with Apple computers. There is a really bad pink tint to the image that makes it unusable.

@@freebsfpv it’s also with the new update. It’s mentioned in the existing issues of the update. I think windows may have an option to turn off HDCP and just not allow playback of protected content.

Overheating? Not good under any circumstance. They did not test this design long enough! Or the reviewers that got them for free gave them a free pass. Still not convinced to buy them. Love my current ones I own. Fatshark knew how to design a goggle frame!

Yeah it sucks that people are experiencing this, ive seen someone replace the fan with a better one but that doesn't solve the issue that it should have been done in the first place. From my experience this has only happened once but I had my heater blasting in my car, other than that it's been working just fine. I would definitely wait to see whats to come and hopefully they figure out a solution to fix it.
