WALKS IN WALES - Stories Of Monks, Murder & Mountains In Margam

Where to walk in Wales? On today’s adventure, we are walking the countryside around Margam near Port Talbot, South Wales.
As we walk, we’ll go back in time and discover the stories of Medieval Monks, Murder and Mountains of the beautiful countryside surrounding Margam Park.
Starting at Margam Abbey next to Margam Park, we look for the grave of Robert Scott, the gamekeeper who was murdered in1898. It’s then off to the ‘not so old’ stone circle before heading up to Capel Mair also called to Hen Eglwys.
Continuing up the mountain to the Iron Age enclosure, Half Moon Camp with views of Port Talbot, Swansea Bay, Margam Moors and the Bristol Channel. Finally, it’s down the hill past the old well which is known as the Monks Bath and back down to Margam Abbey.
Margam Park and Margam Stones Museum were closed at the time of recording but they are definitely worth a visit. There are plenty of great #hiking routes in and around #Margam

Lovely 🌹👋🏼 from 🇨🇦. My great grandfather was born in Glamorgan *shire in those days. I inherited much from him. He came to the prairies (MB) and married a full Cree living at Sagkneeg formerly Fort Alexander (wilderness). I’m so pleased with your presentation!! Thank you.

It is a beautiful area despite being so close to one of the biggest steel works in Europe. When you are in the woods, you wouldn't know it was there.

Margam Abbey is such a wonderful structure! The inside picture of it was filled with much detail. I could spend hours just walking inside and around the graveyard,as well as the churchs' interior! Great video!

I used to climb over the wall (right side of the abbey) in the 70's when it was closed (before the fire), Magical to have the place to myself and sometimes with friends..76 was the summer!

You done a fair bit of walking in this video, The beauty of editing makes it look effortless , I didnt even know a Iron age encampment existed near the CHL station 😀, I can never find a good trail up from capel mair to the ridge. Great video, well edited and informative

Thanks for the comments, the walk up that hill from Capel Mair isn't that clear but there are traces of a couple of paths. Worth it when you get to the top, great views. Apparently, there are quite a few iron age sites along the ridge.
