Hi Brendan. I'm from Matlock.and my mum still lives there. The history behind the town is when it was built it was with Switzerland in mind and the the guy wanted to make it a tourist area.. hence why its nickname is little Switzerland. Its very much like Port Merion in Wales where a town.was created with a reproduction of another place in Europe. So Matlock Bath has become an inland coastal town with no beach. Its very much a tourist trap.

Hi Brendan I live in Matlock and yes, Matlock bath is very strange and it is like the seaside with no beach put on bank holidays and weekends. It comes alive with bikers from Miles and miles around showing off all bikes. 🏍️ Rachel

Haha, just caught up with this video! I go to Matlock pretty much weekly during the summer as a beautiful motorbike ride/stopping spot from Staffordshire. It is a bit of a weird place and if you’re unsure of which Fish & Chip shop to try due to the sheer amount of choice, I recommend the Promenade 👌 😅

A big biker Mecca in the summer, it is an interesting place,all part of the beautiful Peak District, visited many times.

I love it often go for a day or overnight because it’s quite close and very scenic

Matlock Bath Illuminations are good they run from September to October. Your little one will love it. Warning though youll need to pre book tickets as they sell out quick and ive seen people turned away trying to buy on the day. They also have firework display too on some of the days.

I kayak here, theres a pub by the cable carts that let you camp over night as long as you use the pub.

You went in arcade but missed the aquarium that's in there😂😂😂😂,and roman bath, its reknown for bikers at weekends , heights of Abraham, it has amazing woodland walks, has illuminations in summer, its very popular..

Nice one Big Daddio, that looks like a nice, but weird little place, like a poor mans Blackpool, there must be a dogging site there surely!

Love Matlock Bath, been going there since the early 80s. Great vibes and lots of walks around the place. Lots to see and do. Your take on some places makes me laugh😂Always have fish and chips and sit out watching the bikers coming and going. Lots of memories made there. Guess what we'll be there again in about 2 weeks time😁

Oh blimey. Matlock Bath looks a whacky but fun type of place for a weekend away

Oh i been into that town, sure is weird having all the beach shops vibes with no beach in sight, but only went there for the Heights of Abraham and the cave up there, nice little explore though!.

Looks lovely tho , is there a parkdean resorts near or a haven site that might be why it's holiday place x

The industrial unit you parked next to used to be my families coal business (Tinti) the building was for the pre packing and sealing of the bags before it was purchased by the council for the now carpark

You missed the best thing... Alpine cable car, up to the caves and mines above the village. The place you walked is the only inland promenade in the UK, and is a mecca for motorbikes throughout the year. The more classic peak district town is Matlock itself, with a bandstand, park and boaring lake! 😊

Visited the aquarium many times and never realised that used to be a swimming pool where they have the Koi

Matlock Bath used to be an extremely popular spot for motorcyclists to gather, especially during the summer weekends. As a teenager I used to love looking at all the different motorcycles parked along the front. Not sure if this is still occurring.

Hi Brendan I spent many years staying in Bath town centre which is really lovely the place beautiful. Don’t think I’ve visited Matlock.sorry you experienced this. Just remember Bath being lovely. Guess there is always not so great places in cities.

Bath and Matlock bath,are two different places, the latter being in the Peak District

Literally went canoeing there today. You missed out the aquarium, there’s one in one of the amusements you went in, it’s not a bad little aquarium. Also high tor up on the cliffs and heights of Abraham on the other side of the cliff (the big cable car), then gullivers kingdom at the end. The New Bath Hotel is the place with the Victorian lido. Was in that red fish and chip shop you walked past at the end of the video today. Matlock bath is not very far from Nottingham, derby, Sheffield so gets a lot of people from those areas visiting as the coast is around 2 hours drive from most of these cities.

Visited matlock loads since i was a child. It's ok for a day out, not a holiday, but it seems it's changed loads over time. Basically, it is overrun by chip shops and arcades now 😂

Yeah, that was well weird and a really clever idea really. They're going to be swarmed by daytrippers now that you've discovered their hidden gem. Oh and yes, amusement arcades all smell the same, its so true. 😂 Off to watch your last video which i havent got round to yet. Enjoy your family time bud.

I live about 20 min away it’s more of a nice walk out grab some chips in the sunshine it’s known for a lot of bikers to ride out in summer and it’s kinda like haveing a motor bike meeting place. It’s strange but nice at the same time lol

And you missed the “Illuminations” in Autumn too. Enjoy your down time with your family mate, far more important than KZread.

@@BrendanExplores My favourite thing about the seaside is going to those street food sellers and getting a pot of prawns and some cocktail sauce. I remember the sand dunes of Blackpool were fun when I was a child, but it's been a good few years since I went to a beach. There are some very nice beaches in the Devon area. Clacton On Sea hosts an Air Show every few years, it's well worth a visit. They start off with The Red Arrows going over the bay at 12 midday accurate to the second, which I filmed. Amazing.

Dont live too far away from it and in the summer months its packed with motorbikes along that front.

Live local to matlock bath yea its different packed with biker's all summer just used to it go only a couple of times a year but not the tourist roads

If you're a motorbike fan summer weekends, there are thousands

It’s very much meant as a tourist seaside town without the sea. The amusement arcade contains the petrifying well where the waters still calcify items and the old swimming bath is full of koi carp. It’s a Mecca for bikers and is rammed especially on Sundays with bikers which is Another reason for all the chippies. There is a section of the river bank that was known as the beach but you didn’t cover the riverside walk. Google giddy heights for the walk above Matlock. It’s also the home of gullivers kingdom. We love going for the evening for a chippy supper which is a 70 mile round trip. The home of the Industrial Revolution is just down the road Arkwright Mill . I’ve been going for over 40yrs and it’s it’s always busy with bikers and families. And yes people do go for holidays as there are B&Bs and hotels.

Don’t live far from there mate it’s a good day out

@@BrendanExplores Yeh So What you said at the end of the video its normally like a day out thing people from all over derbyshire and other places go and visit have a walk along the river/lake get fish and chips go inside the arcades get an icecream. I personally normally go once or twice a year it also has other features such as the cable carts and alot of other things

Too be fair you could say that about most of the touristy areas in the uk. Unfortunately investment needs people spending money and they dont like they used to.
