    Ride through the west end of Toronto next time... Try Lawrence Heights (Jungle) or Driftwood by Jane and Finch. Try Jamestown in Rexdale. There's many more. There's blocks in east Toronto too. Be careful though when you ride through those spots. Mans will eat your food if they suspect you're an opp.

    30 years ago I lived right across from that convenience store, right next to the church. Looks exactly the same today. People just hanging close to where they can get services. 100 feet off of this strip there are very nice Victorian town houses with stained glass windows. In America, the squalor sprawls in all directions, engulfing entire neighborhoods.

    Cool. That's my hometown. You were at Dundas and Sherbourne down to Queen and Sherbourne. A sketchy stretch with plenty of junkies and dealers. By Toronto standards it's pretty bad. But if you walk up the side streets, you'll see it's all $million-plus Victorian homes. For some reason they just allow those corners to rot.

  • @NomadCanadian

    @NomadCanadian

    Жыл бұрын

    That is what I agree with. These are the same corners I know. Very confined. Unlike the US, it's the rich and new development that's encroaching. Expensive high rises are creeping up on all of this. It's on track to all be taken out, developers are busy everywhere and things are really booming here.

    @@NomadCanadian I've never seen downtown Toronto in such bad shape. (Then again Yonge St was a shithole in the 70s also). Junkies and bums are all over the sidewalks and homeless just left to rot. Tough love time is required IE institutionalization. But with Chow looking like she's going to take it, I'm not hopeful. Back to these corners: I know the priest at All Saints Church in the video on the southeast corner of Dundas and Sherbourne, and it's not going anywhere. It's a drop-in centre that is sometimes a church. The southwest and northeast corners are for sure up for grabs. The northeast corner is public housing, which is an NDP pork barrel, so we know it's definitely not going anywhere. I just answered my own question as to why this corner is left to rot.

    Even though Toronto isn't as bad as many other cities especially ones in the US, it still is sad to see it become more violent and dangerous compared to 20-30 years ago. All the progressive policies and our leaders who are unwilling to hold criminals accountable for their bad behaviors is only encouraging these people to be even more violent and criminal. Things that are happening in the GTA now are things that were either rare or didn't happen much at all many years ago.

    He went to the druggie areas where people hang on a street all day and tweak around like zombies with no soul. This is a growing problem in North America where the government is too pathetic and weak to take action on illegal drugs and letting these people rot their lives away as you see in this video. This drug problem leads to mass homelessness which has destroyed cities like San Francisco and Portland Oregon and is starting to spread to other cities and states.

    Dang Charlie you still here? I work in transit. i know your vids focus on showing poorer and high risk communities of a city. Toronto is designed different than most American cities. We dont have anyone area with a high density of poverty. Its a mixed income city meaning all class level of people exist within any 5km (3mile) radius of anywhere you are. That said if you know where the pockets are you can find them. Where you were near parliament/sherbourne and Dundas is definitely one. If your staying downtown the bloor and Sherborne area, walk south on Bleeker street to Wellesley. Or at the behinning you are at dundas square walk a block east to victoria street where the Toronto public health main building is. If you find somewhere to park near parliament and front and walk west down the esplanade its generally active as well. None of these areas are that bad downtown. More high drug use than anything else. I would suggest regent park but thats a lot cleaner now. High crime areas are outside of the core but even then this is not Detroit lol. Your safe anywhere here if u mind your own business. Union Station can be sketchy to just outside on either side.

    Minding your own business was the way to avoid violence in T.O. but now the random attacks have stepped up. I hate people pointing to crime being down overall from the 90s. I never had any violence in my area because no one in it was involved in drugs, gangs, etc. but now there's a shooting every few days because the violence is not only not contained but it's more random than just 2+ gang members getting into a fight.

    @wlndbeach To be real even the most supposedly 'ghetto' neighborhoods in Toronto/GTA are still pretty decent. The streets are still mostly clean and lawns are mostly well kept. The only thing that makes those areas ghetto is the black people living there that make those neighborhoods more dangerous and violent than they should be. The good news for Toronto/Southern Ontario is that the black population here is in the minority and even though this relative small population still causes a ton of crime, violence and general chaos its still not as bad as it could be if they were living here in larger numbers.

  • @hazysativa3045

    @wlndbeachHow about you point me to the part of my post where I claimed that? I didn't. I never claimed there was hoods that were worse than Jacksonville in Canada.. While we are here... There's several reasons why Canadian cities are much cleaner than the US but thats a different subject. Maybe the population has something to do with it !?! We take better care of ourselves up here. We have dangerous hoods, but we dont have warzones. I just mentioned Jane and Finch is as bad as it gets and if you were from here you wouldnt debate it. We dont leave our less fortunate to live in decrepit buildings, we take care of them, they get proper healthcare. Dental care is coming. Besides, if your house doesnt have windows you would freeze to death. I lived in the states for 6 years, you cant compare the hoods. Im glad to be back home.

    Well ya, the skydome is in a very popular and busy downtown area. Go east side towards Scarborough and you don't want to be there late at night. Toronto is an oddity in that its bad areas are pocketed here and there and not just sectioned to 1 corner of the city. Things around Jane and Finch aren't so bad, but that area itself is terrible. Eglinton is now terrible. You can take a 5min drive from Forest Hill, the most expensive homes in the city, and end up in a ghetto area. Really bizarre.

    Cops in T.O. spend more time just sitting around in a parking lot talking to one another and only doing something when a call comes in OR they're parked next to a construction site with their lights on all day. Modern policing.

    Awesome video. That is legit one of the WORST areas in all of Toronto, you should have walked though Oskenonton Lane on the other side, you drove down it in a previous video a few years ago in the day, but perhaps walking through at night isn't the best idea if you're not from there. Most of the buildings and houses around that corner are trap houses, I can't imagine how many overdoses there are daily. 1011 Lansdowne is another corner to hit up if you're still in the city.

    Toronto doesn't have secluded ghetto areas like other cities. You can drive less than 5 minutes and go from $3 million dollar mansions to a ghetto area and then 2-3 minutes more and you're in a decent area again. Driftwood at Jane and Finch has gangs, and plenty of assassinations in the 90s, but now that cops don't care about drugs or theft the gangs just focus on making money instead of daily fights with each other.
