One of the world’s greatest structures. Unlike many of the other bridges spanning the East River, the Brooklyn Bridge is both a suspension and cable-stayed bridge. John A. Roebling, the designer and engineer never saw the bridge’s completion, since he died prematurely of tetanus. The linking of Manhattan with Brooklyn and Long Island in 1883 changed the city forever.

In Cincinnati we have the ‘prototype’ of the Brooklyn Bridge & it’s called the John A Roebling Suspension Bridge. It was built / open in 1866 almost 20 years before the one in NYC
