@Junaid Akram, The yellow castle in video is Pena palace constructed between between 1842 and 1854 and it was a summer vacations resort for king/queen/family in those days. (The Sintra castle is down from there). A huge part of Portugal was under the control of Islamic rulers from 711 until 1294 beginning with an invasion by the Umayyad Caliphate and you can clearly see the impact in tiles art throughout the country. Therefore, they have traces of islamic art can be seen in Pena palace. You would have noticed islamic calligraphy in the inner circles of main entrance.

This country falls behind many European countries such as Germany, France, UK, Spain, Italy and still 100 times better than Pakistan shows that how much we lag behind on World stage 😔

A big part of Iberian Peninsula was under Muslim Rule, called Moors. So many architectures (including some part of the Belem Tower) of Spain and Portugal were Muslim Architecture influenced or build. In fact one of the castles you visited is called as Moors Castle. A lovely part of the world, would love to visit someday!

I was waiting for Junaid to upload something related to Portugal, finally he has and I am not disappointed.

I wish we could have pedestrian-centric cities, towns and villages instead of going on a rampage to build more and more roads. This only increases the need for car ownership resulting in the consistent traffic jams we bear every single day. I'm from Lahore and my father who lived in Lahore in the 80s tells me that Mall Road was always empty with cars passing by occasionally. The cricket stadium used to be outside the city and you had to get a bus to reach. Today, Mall Road is rarely empty or uncrowded and the stadium is now surrounded by the sprawling settlements that have sprung up in the last few decades. I suggest we should have our cities built around the needs of a pedestrian and cyclists (not motorcyclists btw). We should also utilise wide cover trees to shield the streets and roads from the summer heats, plus it will help in combatting the polluted air in Lahore. This method has been tested in Phoenix, Arizona, USA.

They literally seek profit in every initiative especially the tenders concerning civil engineering matters. Pak Govt do not consider the benefit of masses but go after what benefits them at the end eventually.
