Those tiny bits of dried fish likely only have a calorie. Greenies treats are less than two calories each and are much more substantial than those tiny bits of fish.

I was thinking something along those lines too, but I don't see how else you would get an animal to do that, unless you were a super advanced animal trainer.

It's probably good for training them and then they will slowly start using less and less treats as the cats will do it because (hopefully) they will like it. But also, it's not just about weight, exercise is good for your body and mind even if you are at a healthy weight. Indoor cats especially can get very bored.

If you want your pets health & happy feed them cooked meat, poultry, fish. Lookup "How much sugar is in my cat food" and also "how much sugar is in my dog food?" = SHOCKING Amount. Dry & can dog food is JUNK food which is slowly killing your pet. YES meat, poultry, fish is more expensive however, you will safe vet bills. You can make your pet's food in big batches and freeze it then take out the night before and put in the frig to defrost over night.there are many you tube vids. Best just to have meat for them. COOKED meat not raw. Raw your pets can end up with bacteria/virus/or parasite issues.

Jan Smith, it's very difficult for people to get the right nutritional balance for their pets when making food from scratch. They still need the right nutrients in their diet. I would suggest you don't advise people to do this. I don't think it's just a case of giving them cooked meat and that's that.

@@jansmith3158 dry food can be okay but not the supermarket junk you can buy for cheap. it's the best to talk to your vet and get a decent brand, however you should always add at least twice the amount of water to it otherwise it will damage their kidneys and urinary tract. i'm just adding this because there are some cats that will only eat dry food, but of course it's always better to feed wet food (again not the cheap supermarket stuff because like you said those are very high in sugar and have almost no real meat in it).

5:30 - I was really surprised Nagi got back on the treadmill at this point. He seemed really uncomfortable with the speed and falling off the end of it. I think his perseverance here was way above what a normal cat would push themselves to do.

i feel he wasn't so much uncomfortable as he had no idea tf was going on under his feet lol. to be fair I don't think any of the cats understand the concept of a treadmill but poki is street smart enough to just roll with it.

Watching the cats slowly go back till they just fall off the treadmill is kind of satisfying to watch. Meanwhile, Poki is hacking the workout by finding the right jumping off point to get the food before his brothers do.

Haku: Food? Ok, sure. Treadmill? Ok, whatever. Falling off? Ok, no big deal. Going faster? Hell no!!!! Nagi: Hmmm, Food or treadmill is ok. But eating while walking? That's too complicated... (I'll stick to just walking) Poki: Give me the food already! Or I'll scratch you! (Why do you allways have to make it so difficult?) Pichi: Nope. Just... No. (I'll hide until the humans are sane again) I just love your cats. You can see all the different personalities. And despite their differences all of them easily go along with whatever their humans think up. Maybe try holding a stick/chopstick in front of the treadmill? In case Haku likes that more. 😻Did Nagi actually get a single bit of food?

poki's treadmill time went about as i expected, lol. he's so clever, though, immediately identifying how to best avoid the obstacle to tasty treats! it's funny how much their individual personalities come out when they're doing such a simple activity. do they ever walk on the wheel when you're on the treadmill? i feel like that would be a form of mirroring they might enjoy.

I would say look for one used. Treadmills are pretty reliable so long as they are not 20+ years old. Otherwise check the sales or "I bought this and never use it" best of intentions posts on Facebook. My parents turned their's into a coat rack before finding out they liked turbo trainers. I paid them for it since the thing was basically brand new and felt bad about them practically giving it away. (Although to be fair, they didn't go cheap. It's built well but also weighs a ton. Wrestling it into the house was, well, you get the picture. )

I need a cheeseburger hanging from a fishing road while I walk on the treadmill as well 😂

Haku is giving old cat vibes, I hope he's feeling alright. The easiest way to get a lazy cat some stimulation is a safe yard or catio. Even when they are not running around they are way more active in their little brains. My cats always dropped weight in summer even the ones that just sit and nap in the yard.

Poki is very food motivated! It takes me back to the videos of the trouble he got into when you guys first got him X) He's also very clever, he knew the treats were not moving and so tried to get to the platform and avoid the tread - even trying to hook/latch himself on it. What an intelligent little guy. Haku is adorable, he just can't bring himself to move any faster than his elegant graceful saunter - not even for food! Nagi is such a good boy, even though he can't keep up, he still kept trying. What a delightful video! Human are herd animals! Be (digitally) around relaxed, happy people and a primitive part of your brain gets convinced it must be safe. Likewise, if you are around angry, anxious people (social media, reading the news), you go in alert mode. You don't see a predator yourself, but if everyone in your herd is on guard, are you going to take that risk?

my 3 year old male cat is obsessed with the treadmill! he's a very energetic cat and when we got him the first time we didn't now what to do with him. it was like no amount of play was enough! when he was around 2 we got a treadmill for ourselfs but almost immideatly he figured it out and now wants walks every morning and night. honestly he uses it much more then I do. it is a very usefull thing to have. :)
