It's funny how we celebrate itsenäisyyspäivä, because maybe in other countries people would be on the streets with their flags and having fun but here it's still so calm, as usually.

The skaters in this video are probably crazy daredevil Russians out on the thinnest ice. :-)

It is too early to go onto the lake. The ice can stiil be too thin there. Helsinki temperatures are still high compared to my towns -20 deg. of Celsius. I'm in a small town about 115 km from Helsinki city center.

@ In Somero, a town in proper Finland. Northwest direction, first go to highway nr 1 or 2. After 2 weeks I'll be in Helsinki, where I have my official address and home.

Tropical lady hasn't had as much practice on sliding on icy surfaces, so Leo has to take the part of being the ice ballerina in the family. But you sure seemed to have city folks stupid winter shoes, tennis shoes, to slide too.
