Walking NYC : Morris Park, Bronx

I walk through the neighborhood of Morris Park, Bronx. I start off at the Morris Park subway station, and make my way towards Morris Park Avenue via Colden Avenue. When I get to Williamsbridge Avenue, I walk north until Neill Avenue.
From Wikipedia:
"Morris Park is a neighborhood in the New York City borough of the Bronx. Its approximate boundaries, starting from the north and moving clockwise, are Neill Avenue and Pelham Parkway to the north, Eastchester Road to the East, the Amtrak Northeast Corridor tracks and Sackett Avenue to the east and south, and Bronxdale Avenue or White Plains Road to the west. It borders the neighborhoods of Van Nest to its southwest and Pelham Parkway to its northeast. Williamsbridge Road and Morris Park Avenue are the primary thoroughfares.
The neighborhood is part of Bronx Community District 11 in the East Bronx, and its ZIP Codes include 10461 and 10462. The area is patrolled by the 49th Precinct of the New York City Police Department, located at 2121 Eastchester Road. The local subway is the IRT Dyre Avenue Line (5 train), which runs under the Esplanade. The neighborhood has a large Albanian American and Italian American population."

That urgent care across from Emilio's used to be my families shoe store for generations (Nava Shoes, 1049 Morris Park Ave) which we closed in the mid nineties after over 50 years of business. Lot of memories there.

Nice video bro. I’m 53 years old. I have spent several years passing through Morris Park. I used to work in Jacobi Medical Center from ‘94 through’01. Then I’m joined the NYPD. Ended up working my entire 20 year career in the 49th pct. Meet some really good people in that community. New subscriber here. God bless you.

Morris name in Morrisania section of South Bronx near St. Mary’s Park ( designed by Olmsted just like Central Park) is named for patriot Robert Morris (signer of Declaration of Independence) and his descendants. Much history there.

You walked right pass my house! Colden/Morris Park Ave and Williamsbridge outline the old Morris Park Racetrack. The lower edge of the track is at Bronxdale/East Tremont Ave, by the ConEd facility. The old train station that went to the track was the rear of their parking lot. The northern edge was Pelham Parkway. The horses were led into the track at Pelham Pkway and Williamsbridge after a long walk from Throgs Neck. The stables were at the north end of the track. It used to be the largest track in America with stables for over 1000 horses. The NYPL has a bunch of pics of the track around 1890-1910.

These mundane places are still nevertheless worth seeing.People world over too often think anyone crazy for wanting to look around-if not a threat. Now I want to find out the background to those connecting arches and in particular if they are efficient in reinforcing the connected units. The houses with steps up would be valued highly where I am.These increase security and this was realized when a police station was built at Brighton on the south coast of England, which was expected to be at risk of being stormed some time by anarchic day- trippers such as in the past by the famous mods and rockers- upset that their freinds were being kept there. The commercial areas of this part of the city are very like London (UK) suburbs and as such would be valued there to dwell in.Thanks for this item i'll keep it in likes and other storage for as long as seems possible.
