Seeing that everyone is cycling instead of using cars made me feel so relaxed as an istanbulian. Here you can't find a safe road to cycle because of the crowd of cars. It also made me happy to see that everyone is going for walks and runs. We need the rest of the world do the same thing. Loves from Turkey :)

@@thirdid419 well we have no other option. Istanbul is one of the most populated cities in the world. Transportation has always been the biggest problem of this city and it's getting worse and worse. Even though most people use their own car to travel around the city some prefer public transportation to avoid traffic and gas prices. As i have stated earlier there is no safe road for cycling and the reason is definitely the population. I always admired cities like Amsterdam but let's be real. Amsterdam has a population of about 800k while İstanbul has over 20 million :) so you can't expect people to not use cars in such a city

I appreciate the advantages and freedom we have compared to countries with restrictions . ..but we also know how much better it could be with an effective Government, more fairness for workers & less "Rich/ Poor Divide" and food at a more reasonable price for those with no work.

@@antonkoshkin2234 I am sad for you and I wish everything good for you in the future. You WILL realise your dream if you work hard towards it but don't rush into something without making a plan first. Also may I add that work here in the UK is not easy to come by unless you have qualifications of some sort, even then it is a rat race to get a job.....If you have no money AND no qualifications you could well end up living on the streets; you would be given food and a few clothes but only hostel type accommodation = and that would be indefinitely . The same would apply in most EU countries, most of them are not as generous as UK, that is why so many refugees want to come here. I lived in France for 12yrs (I returned to UK because of the "Brexit" vote) and the situation is much harsher there. I am not trying to put you off, I just hope that you will take my words as a guide and a warning . Take care of yourself.

I landed at Shipol Airport on 6 Jan., 1991 stayed for a month as a native, then cried all the way from Jordaan back to Shipol to fly back to the states. I never got over it. Memories so dear, how could I? No way cuz i don't want to...now I'm old yet I have my mem's...

As an American looking into moving to the Netherlands, I realized that I had only seen footage of Amsterdam when it wasn’t raining. So I sought out this to get a sense for what it’s be like. I don’t mind the rain, as long as I get the feeling that I’m in the rain with everyone else. Where I’m from, when it rains, people just don’t go outside unless it’s to and from their cars.

I know! We need to catch up to the rest of the world and start ditching our cars. Amsterdam got it right. People are out walking, jogging, or riding bikes. So much healthier! The one truly awesome thing about lockdown was the absence of cars. I only drove when I needed to go shopping. Otherwise I walked or rode my bike to get out of the house. I was really hoping that as a country, America would see that working from home was so much better for the environment. And we had more quality time with our families. But its back to sitting in rush hour traffic again, when I could be home making dinner. Why would anybody want to go back to that? We went right back to making all the same mistakes.

Hmm...pretty quiet on the streets. Plus it's the most upscale part of Amsterdam. Perhaps not really representative of what the city has to offer......
