Walking in OSTRAVA / Czech Republic 🇨🇿- 4K 60fps (UHD)
Ostrava in the north-east Czech Republic is located near the border to Poland - the Moravia and Silesia region.
We start this walk at the New Town Hall - built in 1930 - with some current art installation and walk from there into the historical centre. There in the centre we see the Masaryk Square (Czech: Masarykovo náměstí) and walk around until we head to Stodolní street. This street is busy on weekends with many bars yet quiet during the week. Tourists from nearby Poland visit this place sometimes to party.
We end this walking tour near the train station Stodolni.
Ostrava is a rather quiet and mostly industrial city which gets few tourists. As a transportation hub between Olomouc and Katowice it has many connections between the Czech Republic and Poland.

I can’t believe I did’t come across this wonderful video until now, one year after it’s been posted( October 2, 2020). Ostrava is my hometown. I lived there for 20 yrs. I moved overseas 25 years ago, currently I am living in the Virgin Islands 🇻🇮, St. Croix. Anyhow, I must say that Iam shock and surprised how wonderful my town is looking now. It has changed a lot! Quite frankly I’m very impressed! Although, I visit about once a year, I usually never make the effort to visit downtown. Instead , I always visit the mountains ( Beskydy, or Jeseniky) and its charming villages outside Ostrava. They are all within 30 minutes to an hour or so of drive and and well worth the visit... However, after watching this video, I will make sure that on my next visit I’ll include few trips downtown as well. Great video . 💕💕💕Thank you! Barbara

any things in ostrava worth visiting that people dont know about?
My husband and me we will move to Ostrava next year for studying Czech. I loved to see its streets.
Stress zero in the city. I love It!
Excellent! Thank you very much for this great walk!
For more years I visited my Czech friends here since 1990. The centre of Ostrava is in a better shape now. Ulice Stodolni is the 24 hour open aerea with its nice variety of bars and restaurants. Next time you visit this town: take its unique look at the old steelmill that is museum now so close to the centre of town. You make the most amazing movie of Ostrava! With compliments from the Netherlands by Arie Bert Vertseeg ;-)
1 day I would like to visit Ostrava.Greeting from Belgium
Wow wonderful ❤❤
Damn this city is so vibrant There is so much to explore in this world 🌎
Ostrava looks nothing alike Milan Kundera´s Ostrava description in the joke, which im currenlty re-reading. Greeting from Mexico
Very good idea to show Ostrava in summer. It gives a better view. I went there in autumn 2015, different atmosphere, very few people in the streets. Lot of works in progress, very bad city roads. Worth seeing any case :)

Thank you. The area around Katowice / Ostrava is less touristic - everybody seems to be moving through. It's still interesting to see "normal" cities without the typical attractions - even if it's only on video. With lack of tourists the locals seem to be more open and friendly to visitors. I had a good time on my first visit a few years ago. This time it was a stopover for this walk on my way to Poland. Thanks for watching
Thank You
Spent a weekend there and stayed in a AirBNB in a very quiet and industrial part of the city.. It's not that glamorous, considering it was once a steel mining town and most of the mines have shut down. Visited the Usain Bolt tower and had a good look of the city around from the top of the tower. It's a super clean city, friendly people - the kind of place you want to disappear in and perhaps raise a family in the outskirts.. Going to Prague in July!
I ve been arounde EU and Ostrava is a special place. Big city with peace of village. I wish to live there. Very few people bit a depresion but very calm

Ahoj! Mám radost a z dálky tleskám!

@POPtravel's reflection at 16:25 - That a GoPro?

Ten kdo to natáčí absolutně neví kam má jít, co natáčet, no prostě katastrofa, trapný motaní se v kruhu. A to samé v Brně.

Možná někdy sestříhám nějaké "best of" video ukazující pouze místa z pohlednic, i když o to ve skutečnosti nejde.
