Yes it was in real-time, Nancy, mistakes and all! It's fun to just sew and see what comes up. Those are usually the best learning moments b/c we all have the same problems at some time! Thanks so much for watching. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise

Nicely done! I really appreciate it when you show the actual quilting of your tops - including any "bobbles"! It's all part of the magic of quilting. I have heard that the Amish believe that a mistake is ok as only the Lord can be "perfect". Amen to that. I think we as quilters are too hard on ourselves and fret about each little mistake. If someone is looking at one of my quilts that closely and see a mistake, oh well! Thank you as always for sharing your love of quilting!!!

Yes! Thank you, Mary Anne! Quilting is for pleasure and artistic expression. Most of all it's about the creative journey and the friends we find along the way! 😍 So glad you appreciate that despite all my snafus. LOL 😂😂😂 Happy Quilting, Lea Louise

I love your style. I do hand-dyed fabrics and was always disappointed that quilt designs had small fabric pieces that didn't showcase the fabric designs. If I'm going to the trouble of dyeing by hand, I want big chunks of my designs to show. Thank you for the great tutorials. I want to purchase the Garden Path for when I get a little more confident with my piecing ability.

I totally agree, LL! Large piece patchwork blocks are my favorite, too! Who wants to cut those beautiful fabrics into tiny pieces...unless they are scraps. You'll love this log cabin pattern which is very easy to make. Don't miss the FREE All Blocked In pattern that you can download. It's in the previous video and I'll add the link here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/X5WZ1dadodu4Z6g.html You can get the download in the description below the video. Enjoy and Happy Quilting! Lea Louise

You are right about that, LL! Those of us who don't dye our own fabrics don't have the luxury of those lovely color adjustments. It would definitely be beautiful! Thanks so much for watching! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise

I have been doing this quilting design for a few years. Even on queen-sized quilts. If I may offer a tip, at the beginning of the spiral, I use my free motion foot to make spiral until I get about a 6” circle. Then without cutting thread, with needle down, I switch out free motion foot for walking foot and continue spiral circles. It works great for me.

Great tip, Brenda Sue! My old machine isn't up to free-motion any more, but I'm sure others out there will appreciate the idea! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise

I really enjoy your videos! I'm a beginner quilter and your tutorials make so much sense. You teach us using a home sewing machine like so many of us beginners have and show how it's possible to make beautiful quilts without purchasing extra machines. Thank you, thank you!!!

Thanks so much for your comment, S-Mama! Home sewing machines are all I've ever worked on since I began sewing as a kid. The fancy machines are wonderful, but the old standards also do a very fine job. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise

There's no FMQ here, Della! All of the quilting you've seen me do with a walking foot is regular quilting. A walking foot simply gives you some options that a regular pressure foot can't do. So this is much easier than you think it might be. You can do it! Thanks for watching. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise

I am quilting a 9 patch quilt at the moment and have decided to do a different quilt design in each block, saw your other tutorial on doing the circle and have practiced and was surprised how easy it was but realise with the whole quilt it will be more tricky, planing to do this on the centre block.

Beginner here, can you back stitch with walking foot? How do you lock in stitches?

  • @InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise

Yes, Karen, you absolutely can backstitch with a walking foot. 😊 Alternatively you can over-sew where seams may meet which is what I do a lot. Thanks for watching! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise

Glad you're ready to do some circle quilting, Jacky! The metal guide I used in this tutorial came with the walking foot I purchased. Most walking foot attachments come with a guide, sometimes two. There's a walking foot link in the description below the video if you need to purchase one. Also check out the accessories available for your sewing machine as you may see one there. Good luck and have fun quilting circles! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
