WALKING: Downtown Salt Lake City, Utah
"Salt Lake City (often shortened to Salt Lake and abbreviated as SLC) is the capital and most populous city of Utah, United States. It is the seat of Salt Lake County, the most populous county in Utah. With a population of 200,133 in 2020,[10] the city is the core of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area, which had a population of 1,257,936 at the 2020 census.
Salt Lake City was founded July 24, 1847, by early pioneer settlers led by Brigham Young, who were seeking to escape persecution they had experienced while living farther east. The Mormon pioneers, as they would come to be known, entered a semi-arid valley and immediately began planning and building an extensive irrigation network which could feed the population and foster future growth. Salt Lake City's street grid system is based on a standard compass grid plan, with the southeast corner of Temple Square (the area containing the Salt Lake Temple in downtown Salt Lake City) serving as the origin of the Salt Lake meridian." -Wikipedia

I loved your video THANK YOU for to make it. I never though Salt Lake city is so nice as it is/was on this video. and the BUILDING were VERY BEAUTIFUL. a bit more simplyfied than some of out buildings here in Europe but it is newer aged architecture and as such it is really Nice and even Beautiful some are Stanning . Is is a style between our old and VERY new . SO it is a slightly modest variation of the artitacture. Please NOTE I talking about a STYLE of the buildings from around the world and not about the NATIONS or CONTINENS,. The buildings are always reflecting back the nations development in general through out the thousand of years of history. I also loved that you planted trees on the both side of these - I would call avenues - rather than streets. Really injoyed every corner and house of this city as it showed. TRUELLY IS NICE and WANDERFULLY KEPT. The people is looked very lovely matured manered and most of all civilized as it shows well how well kept everything is. I subscirbed at once and I thanking for to showing us in a nice civilized way so we could enjoy to see all the beautiful buildings ( sweet old historic cotage to the Grand Beau of that huge white building looked liked with two tower ) and all the different age of the buildings style,..!
Salt Lake City, it seems to be a wonderful city to live in. Nice arquitecture, streets are cleans and with trees. I.just loved it

By the way, the street system is by county. 100 North means 1st North or one block north of the center of the city, in Salt Lake, the temple is the center street. So if going north or south, only one side of an address changes, same with going east or west. Very convenient and easy to get around. Designed by Brigham Young.
I was there about six years ago, I attended a wedding of my friend. I stayed close to the airport. It's a really nice city and the people are very nice and friendly. I took the train to go downtown, and went to the indoor mall, I really enjoyed it even the airport was nice. I think salt lake city is really clean and safe because of the mormon influenced, I can fit in there because I dont smoke drink or party at all, I always wanna move there.
Salt Lake City was my home for about six or seven months many years back. there was a radio station I used to listened to, that played oldies 24/7. when I listen to oldies wherever I am, Salt lake City comes to mind.

Great POV to give us a real idea of what it looks like in the city!
Very nice walk around Salt Lake. I've been through the airport, but that's about the extent of my familiarity with the area. Watching it I felt like I was right there walking along those sidewalks. Everyone was out and about enjoying their day. I liked seeing the mountains in the distance and all the shops, and some nice looking eating places in your video. I was very impressed with what I saw. It looked so clean and didn't have that crowded inner city congested look to it. So much cleaner and better looking than Portland which sadly has become an eyesore. I did not see one homeless person or tent on the sidewalks. I didn't get that nervous feeling of crime around every corner as I do in Portland. I'm sure SLC has its problems like every city, but from what I've seen in the video. There must be a lot of effort put into keeping the city tidy and properly functioning. Good Job making your video. Thanks.

Brings back memories of my visit in May 2018.... its not changed much...
Thanks for the walk downtown. My favorite thing to do was walk all over the downtown area to see what new restaurants and bussises have opened up. I've always loved how clean and beautiful it is as well as helping strangers from out of town to find certain places. Ever since I moved to the suburbs there's no more walking. Kind of a bore here. Anyway, thank you for the video. 😊

Hope you enjoyed Temple Square. You were there about two weeks after the semiannual general conference of the Church. Our prophet just turned 99.
Love the fact that you're braving the cold weather. I'd say you'd be hard fought to find a better semi large U.S. city to explore walking style in terms of safety and non-congestion. Not to mention I think it has the highest per capita of historic mansions (in the avenues) outside of Boston. This video does somewhat surprise me though. There was always a reasonable amount of homeless people present on Main Street last time I was there. It almost seems like they no longer tolerate them on Main Street anymore.

@@theitwinerary Yes, the 'avenues' is where most are located although there are also quite a lot of smaller historic homes up there too.

A Blue dot in a sea of Red. Very expensive to live on the Wasatch Front. Go to Kilby Court to get some live music. Fisher Brewing for a beer. 9th & 9 is interesting. Realistic yards in many Avenue and Liberty Wells area homes. The Living Room hike is easy with great views on clear days. The negatives are the power structure, the goal of obtaining more $$$ and connections. The Legislature controls SLC. The Inland Port and expansion of I-15 will have negative impacts on the City. Dust, dirt and grit from the West Desert and the GSL are major concerns. The homeless situation is tragic and out of control just west and south of DT. Great views, numerous close by outdoor options but the $$$ culture and the reliance on connections limit personal growth. There are so many LDS influencers on KZread.

Yeah, definitely a place where the social and financial climate can put extreme pressure on you. Not to mention the state basically lets employers get away with all kinds of draconian work schedules and expectations. You're pretty lucky if you don't work weekends or have a less than ideal work schedule there.
What is the weather like there? Is the winter brutal like Wisconsin, maybe because this is the mountains? Summers, bugs or humidity? I will be visiting soon, so thanks for the video. I'm researching ways of leaving WLA some day, even though I'm fifth generation.

Well, I just spent 7 days in SLC, near downtown, in a nice hotel, but I don't feel like it's the right place for me. It seems well-run and clean, but I like a bit more classic charm and prettiness. And the mountains are just dry and brown. Many affordable rental apartments and the trax train, but home prices are as high as much of the west. Next...

Winter's are generally daytime temps of 20-30 at the height of winter but starts warming up in March. Summers expect near 100 temps and dry but no bugs.

@@MissBabalu102 Most of the year the mountains are actually green or have snow on them. Fall time the mountains will look brown because it's full of trees but right after summer they might look brown because there's hardly any moisture in Salt Lake in the summer. It is a desert state after all.

We live here. How did you manage to make a video without all of the unhoused people in it? We were very surprised.... Did you edit it out? I am not in any way being rude.... I am sincerely asking because we walk downtown and there's so many people who don't have homes hanging out and often ask for money. I see it all the time so I was shocked it wasn't in the video.

Yes, I live here and it’s extremely safe. There are only maybe 2-3 streets I wouldn’t feel safe walking down at night. Otherwise, it’s very safe city and you are more likely to be injured by slipping on ice in the wintertime than harmed by another person.
