An evening walk around downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan. Enjoy the sights and sounds of a mid-November walk as we tour downtown, past the Van Andel Arena, across The Blue Bridge, and back downtown. We added traditional Jazz Music to this one but am planning on posting another video without music and just the natural sounds. Thanks for taking this walk with us!

I lived in downtown Grand Rapids until a few weeks ago and I must say, you have captured a perfect winter night walk around the city! Having lived here for most of my life, I was around during the economic depression that hit most of the major cities, and Grand Rapids was hit hard. So many empty buildings and lots and disrepair. But now, we have revitalized better than ever! As a long time resident I want to say thank you. You have captured the true beauty of this great city.

Great vid. That panoramic view from the blue bridge was cool. It'll even look better in a few years when they complete that riverside amphitheater. I forget about the authenticity and growth of our downtown. I'm 55 and grew up in the suburbs most of my life. I haven't been downtown in awhile but this make me want to revisit it.

It's a wonderful city that continues to grow. Love the different things they are doing over there and also all of the activities and events. It feels so alive and with so many different choices!

Definitely need some light rail or something I live in the suburb of Wyoming close to Byron centers city limits and goin downtown for an event or anything means taking my car and when there’s a huge event everyone else has the same plans and drving parking etc it a absolute disaster, it’s very stressful and discourages me from visiting downtown to try out all the awesome shops and bars down Monroe….also gotta get over to founders some day 😝

It'll be interesting to see how Grand Rapids and the surrounding areas continue to grow. There is so much going on that it seems like it will only continue to grow. Definitely see how a light rail or something similar would be beneficial. Cheers!

Correct, this video was filmed in 2022. Looks like the Blue Bridge closed at night in June 2023. Grand Rapids is a wonderful and beautiful town. Hope they can continue growing in a positive direction.

Was just there last week. Really enjoyed ourselves both downtown and outside of downtown.
That’s where my uncle Joe lives.
I live in Chicago, but strongly considering a move. Most of my extended family in Nashville, but I have no desire to go south. Is Grand Rapids the answer?

Grand Rapids is a beautiful city with so much going on. We love to visit. Michigan, especially as you get into Northern Michigan is just amazing! Sounds like you might be on to something!

When I moved up this way someone once told me - how lucky are we to live where other people vacation? That sounds dreamy in theory but of course it's not all rainbows. Every place has a pro and con list of course. Best.

Around 7:30 pm. It was a weekday and pretty quiet for sure.
I am possibly going to Grand Rapids for a concert..how dangerous is the city? Mugging etc?

I was down there this past summer for a concert and again for a meeting. Spent the evenings walking downtown without a problem. Nice, connected downtown and everything is walkable and well lit. I think you'll be just fine!
