Walkie talkie from Japan to the Philippines?
Ойын-сауық
A handheld radio that can transmit between the Philippines and Japan?
This is a basic overview of the Cignus NX100 Gen2 - a POC handheld radio which requires no license to operate.
Aside from being able to transmit from radio to radio, you can also create various groups between different radios, perform GPS tracking, and designate an administrator or commander radio unit that can talk over any ongoing communication.
These radios are Push-to-Talk over Cellular. I'm using a Smart SIM card with the Magic Data (non-expiring) data promo.
* In the video, I mentioned using various different type-c chargers for the radio. Please note that it doesn’t work with all “fast charge” cables. This is a common issue with type-c devices. If you plan to use this radio in another country, I recommend checking compatibility first with Cignus - for what bands are supported.

Sorry don’t mean to sound negative but are those radios only meant for commercial use,and if anyone can buy those, surely criminals could use them and not get traced, because that’s why SIM cards are registered now because of crime related issues!!🙏🙏

Firstly, let's address the elephant in the room... SIM registration doesn't stop criminals. It's trivially easy to register a SIM using false information. You can see various news reports about that. Criminals have been getting past the strict KYC process required by e-wallets for many years already - so the SIM registration process is just a joke for them. Aside from that, what's to stop criminals from using a SIM or eSIM from another country, and then enabling roaming to use it inside the PH without having to register it? Or what's to stop criminals from buying a UHF/VHF radio online and using that without relying on a cell network? Anyway, putting all of that aside, these radios use a regular SIM card, just like your phone. So you will be required to register the SIM card.

well said @GadgetAddict. The same thing can be said with money. Not entirely related to the subject but critical thinking should be taught in school, a lot of people lack that these days.

I can't believe criminals are using viber, facebook chat, telegram, yahoo messenger, whatsapp, skype, wechat, LINE. How could the Philippine government let this happen 😢😢 Wait until you realize you can setup a LoRa mesh with a cheapo android phone

Based on your logic we should ban cellphones too. Since criminals can use a cellphone to detonate an IED. 🤦♂️
Now I understand why your handle is Gadget Addict! 😂Love your channel man!
What a great video. I'm now a fan of your channel.
Finally, a gadget review👍 kudos. Looking for more gadgets being reviewed
This is great, amazing content, Gadget Addict. This niche stuff just enchants my nerdy heart and dream of the possibilities. There's a huge motovloggibg and just motorbiking community. Maybe you could make some video on the communication options by Sena, Cardo and whatever unknown brand has emerged from China.
Nice! You have a very special guest! Take care always. We want to hear more about the Disney Land visit..
Miss these types of content...
Nice to see you doing this kind of content again!
this is amazing! wow!
Cool. Good to know. We used VHF radios back in the days.
The nice, rare gadget videos from Gadget addict. I still like your gadget reviews, even though it’s also satisfying to see kamote drivers caught all the time.

Very interesting gadget review!
This is great. Gave me an idea
Its ok if youre in an area where network towers are available, downside, you need a data plan to make the unit work. And it uses a voip protocol or Voice Over LTE. anothe4 problem with that is, it is useless when all network towers are down. Thats why rescue and other ham radio enthusiast still use licensed ham radio like vhf and uhf.
Some cellular radios support a special DMO Mode for direct connections. It would be great if these radios would try a dPMR connection first and then try a repeated dPMR connection and only then go into cellular mode. dPMR is license free in nearly all countries, unlike Tetra25 which support the DMO-mode and some cellular modes. It would be great if they could add DMR and DV (D-Star) modes too.
I like it. Planning to buy a pair. Good to have for emergency. Specially when trekking.

similar to Nextel iDEN from the late '80s, but PoC (Push to Talk Over Cellular) support LTE data and video BW requirements...PoC sometimes refers to RoIP (Radio over IP)
we had walkies inside a car, on gavel roads, no issues at all using it's docks, didn't fall off or anything.
thanks for making this video, I learned something new today. is the Cignus NX100 Gen2 only available in PH? are there mobile apps that allow Phone to talk to this ?
Very nice, i think i will get 4.
Hope you can share a link as to where we can purchase some. Great video as always. Many many thanks, Gadget Addict. All the best!😊

There's no specific seller that I'd recommend to be honest. They're available in most Cignus dealer shops, but also online through Shopee and Lazada. Depending on the vouchers available, you could get it much cheaper by buying it online. You can find it by searching "cignus NX100" - just make sure that it's the new gen2 version, since some people are still selling the older and larger version.

Great review 👍 Looking forward to your extensive review. Can you tell me how to get roaming for my Magic Data + on my phone. I’m in Japan for a Day and I want to use the phone to get around? Thanks
Quite cool
I remember Nextel with this radios.
amazing
A few questions on this. 1. Can you connect a blue tooth mic to the radio and use Vox to communicate? 2. If you loose cellular connection will it automatically reconnect? 3. What data cost or connection costs? Or do you use a cellular SIM card?
I like this video.
A friend had this option on his phone years ago, He used it to talk to his family on the other side of the country, IT was free vs if he called using the same phone it was 50 cents a min,

Yes companies with road crews used them back in the day
Thanks GA for the great review. I probably missed it, but will this work in Caribbean, North and South America? If yes, then how do we connect to the cell service provider?
Useful For Close Range, Some Will Work Longer Distances
The whole purpose of a walkie talkie is to be able to communicate if cell towers are down or in areas where there is no service or to be able to use the air waves free of charge.
@RainBitcoins
Ай бұрын
Exactly, in a grid down situation these will be useless
I remember the walkie talkies given by my my uncle who used to work in Japan, but of course those are toys and only covered a shirt distance.
@gadgetaddict if possible by chance, is there anyway that you can cover the details once the Sim card is installed what steps next to set up the radio?
It's a push to talk cell phone bud. Low to no latency data type. It's like using a low bandwidth internet browser on your computer. It's still using the Internet, it's still an Internet browser. Call a spade a spade. It's still really cool. But, it's a push to talk cellular device.

Does it have dual-sim capabilities? If so, what does it do if one network/sim has a weak (or dead) signal? 🤔
inrico poc you can connect thru wifi and can call other poc radio all thru out the world
YAAAA YA YA YA YA YA I HEAR BONG'S VOICE AGAIN
Can you also have other suggestions that can work independently no wifi or towers needed, and no need for lisence too? That are legal in lot of countries like in Japan, Philippines and Where do you think i can buy them?
this is too good to be true...

Wow a cell phone with push to talk
This looks awesome, but, where can I buy one, and how much?
Celular network dont solve problems. When you are on a hike in the wilderness or climbing mountains, forget about cellular network, there is none. Thats the place you need a radio with good range.
This costs around $112-120 x 2 atleast. Not for everyone. Works like VoIP. Choose the cheaper one unless you have the money to burn.
Its a cell phone y'all

It works on the cellar network, but it's not a cellphone, pay attention
there is an app for that on Apple store..
So if there is no cellular connection say out in a National Park then these radios will not function am I correct on this? Was thinking of using this type of radio whilst out on the mountain wild camping to communicate with Mrs (obviously she would have one too).
This is not available in US, I searched and magic data smart sim card as well. Please guide me, we need for our patrol group
Where can I buy it in Europe? Does is work in the Netherlands and Belgium and Germany France etc etc
POC Walkie Talkie. Cara kerjanya seperti zello
I need a LoRA version of this.
You need sim chip. It's a cell phone using internet for calls basically..
Wow
Its great to see the device however in Europe there is no dealer.
The concept was introduced 20 years ago on Nokia phones and if your network allowed you, you could press the Walkie Talkie “ button and use your phone as a WT. So, congratulations for reinventing the old Nokia, minus the cell phone capabilities!!
Hi, great video, You are using smart local sim in Japan, did you activate roaming and can you also use that data internet smart sim on your phone in Japan?
@GadgetAddict

I activated roaming because I didn't want the hassle of swapping SIMs. Although this is actually a dual-SIM model, so I could have just added a Japanese SIM to the second slot.

Example im on a ship sailing worldwide can i use this to call in the Philippines? If i use a regular load on my smart sim to call back in the Phil how much will it cost per minute?
So basically if you are outside of cellular coverage your walkie-talkies are useless! If these had GPRS failover these would be excellent. Otherwise, it’s a cellphone with push to talk button!
what if you dont have a cel signal? and do you have to pay monthly bill or cel load?
Good for logistics, traffic, law enforcers and security application.
What if we go to place out of cellphone network area like camping mountainaring...we can use any Android app group instead of this.
Yeah please can you brief us about the range?
What would you recommend for a reliable communication should a big catastrophe happens in the Philippines?
I just love the no price review..

Most dealers online seem to have it for P5,500 - P7,000 It could potentially be cheaper if you get lucky with vouchers on your favorite shopping website.
GA how much is the cost of each radio.....thank you
Trying to figure out what this device is useful for personal use. In the US, it reminds me of a walkie tallkie technology from Nextel, which was a PTT (Push to talk) which relied on proprietary phones (but also supposted the PSTN Public Switched Telephone Network) which these types of devices don't support. Yet another gadget to carry, not sure if it's worth the bother.

A lot of people seem to be considering this as a (bad) alternative to a cellphone. But really it's an alternative (or addition) to those who already use a radio, or have a need of a radio. I would say that the average person probably doesn't need a radio in their day to day life. But for those who do, it serves a very useful purpose. And you're right, Nextel is the classic. It's a shame that was phased out.

It's a shame they don't use a model that also supports 3G/4G - in addition to the Wi-Fi. I guess you could Hotspot them.
Thats a long distance. Cheaper than a regular cell phone?
Gadget Addict, can we use that to call celphones? Thanks
So if there is no cellular connection it will not work? Im working at sea for example
New subbed here
wich service do they use? is it free? apart from the sim card data subscription?
Man I miss nextel lol
Hello. My question is. Is that walkie talkie going to work in Europe and England and Scotland? Thanks.
so, I need 4G simcard and roaming service. What's the diff with a cell phone?
so... you cant use it on the mountains... if they put a secondary walkie talkie function for areas without any or barely any cellphone signal, that would sell more.
That kind of hand held walkie Talkie Radio.. How far can receive the signal transmission.. 1 mile. 2 miles 3 , 4 , 5 miles or just good for 100 meters radius
What if the cellular network is out of order?
Where or how to order? So u r now on holiday. Have a good day
Yes it’s just cell phone . No suprise.
@gadgetaddict apart from sim card is there a monthly subscription? Would it work in a cruise ship if the ship is out to sea?
