Nah, I rationalise it with my own theory. That demigods' growth spurts are accelerated as an innate survival mechanism via the Mist responding to their subconscious desire to be stronger faster to fight off monsters. I figured it's a plausible explanation given Hazel's understanding of how the Mist works when she mastered it.

It’s interesting that Walker himself thought he might be too old. When you cast a 12-year-old boy, you really don’t know whether he’s going to be a late or normal bloomer. By the time filming began, he was growing pretty fast. They got away with it with Maxwell Jenkins and Lost in Space but by the time Disney start filming season two he’s going to be a pretty mature llooking 16-year-old!

I just love how Walker has read almost all the Percy Jackson universe books. I've only read Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus. I haven't read Magnus Chase, Trials of Apollo, or The Kane Chronicles yet.
