    Hey man you just do the bottom plug the drain and the top plug you use to fill with a funnel making sure everything's sprayed down with brake clean and clean of debris and use mobile one synthetic 15 40

    Late to the party - don’t fill through the reservoir, fill the hydro through the top plug. There is a mesh screen on the bottom of the reservoir so way too much time to fill thru it. When full - rotate the tires, to and fro to get air out of the system. Also, remove the reservoir cup and clean the mesh screen on the bottom with soap and water(dawn). The cups are reverse threaded so clockwise to remove ccw to install (reservoir has a plastic hex ~3/4” to remove.)

    You have the fill hole open... You pour the oil into the bolt hole, not through the oil cup. Also, if you're under 1,000 hours, don't touch them in any way! The warranty is important and if they are feeling funky before 1,000 hours take it to the dealer.

    I'm looking to buy an older s14 with low hours. Is this a good model for basic weekly cuts? And can this be upgraded to an 18 horsepower?

  • @tylerasmann2084

    @@creatingmind4910 It most certainly should get the job done. The 14 won’t handle it very well if you’re trying to cut down foot tall grass, but that’s not what walkers are for. The 14hp Subaru wasn’t my favorite power plant. Won’t lie to you there. They did make some Kohlers I really liked. The 18 ran a Briggs Vanguard. You’d need to change a few things to convert it. Wiring harness mods and crank pulley are the first to come to mind but certainly doable.

    if buying a used 1998 walker with 1200 hrs is the blower at high risk of going bad?

  • @tylerasmann2084

    @tylerasmann2084

    17 күн бұрын

    @@ozzfest78it’s certainly possible. They are completely rebuildable. As long as the case and fan are in good shape. If looking it over, take the belt off the blower and spin it. Listen for excessive bearing noise or any clearance issues. The fans and the housing can get bent or worn out. Look down the chute and inspect the fan itself. Make sure the fins aren’t worn out. I believe a 98 would have had the older style blower. A little more prone to clogging. The fan and shaft were all one piece so the replacement is a little more pricey.

    good luck on the spraying tests bud! I got my Commercial applicators license two years ago, and I think its a good add for guys like us doing mowing. Study study study!! Here in Texas, I had to take 3 tests. The general license was one, and then there was the two category tests 3A for landscape/ornamental and my category 5 which is vegetation management. Hollar at me/ text me or whatever, if ya have any questions. Of course there are a few helpful youtube channels on here also, and you know about them already. Jason C get your wheels turning during that last conference?? LOL.... Also, be prepared to spend some cash on the chemicals to get started. There was definitely an investment in chemicals at first.

    Simply put I could not find in the pdf manuals online from Walker nor from Eaton anything about yearly servicing the Hydro's. I do know that if you contaminate the oil in your hydro it will fail and opening this sealed unit voids any warrantee. As to commenting to others they should know prior to opening them how careful they need to be in the replacement of this fluid. Don't you think that was worth the warning directed to them? Walker's are great units and I do have experience matching yours....

    Walker does NOT recommend that other then checking for fluid levels the hydraulic transmissions should not be opened, drained or messed with outside of their trained techs working on them. This is because of the extreme cleanliness needed in the oil to maintain proper function. You are correct the screens are extremely fine, because any (ANY) dirt in the oil will wear out the insides faster then you can sharpen a pencil. I could not find in the literature from Walker or Eaton (mfg. of the transmission) the service intervals. The check plugs are not to be opened just loosened. The lowering of the oil levels in the cups shows a leakage on the shaft (Had you noticed that in the 1st year it was under warrantee, UNTIL you opened the system up.) Hope you do not run into problems....
