"Carl Berners plass" is a square and a traffic hub with a square roundabout in the district of "Grünerløkka", south of "Sinsen", in Oslo. The square is located at the intersection of "Trondheimsveien", "Christian Michelsens gate", "Grenseveien" and "Tromsøgata". The square got its name in 1934, named after "Carl Christian Berner", who was president of the Storting in 1905. "Carl Berners plass" is a hub for trams, buses, and the subway. The subway station a little east of the square opened in 1966. In September 2007, a project for improving the square's visuals and traffic-related capabilities was passed.The project started in April 2008 and finished by autumn 2010. The square used to be controlled by traffic lights but is now rebuilt into a roundabout, a circle that encircles a central square island.
