For a small town it had a lot to see! Thanks for ending with the trains. I also feel like I just had a cardio workout watching this time.

Good video. Come back to visit. The train depot was further west down Main Street passed the Historic district and behind the Post Office.

The window on the Courthouse that you pointed to is in fact the Tiffany stained glass window. If you could have gone inside and looked out you would have seen it is stunning!

You have an accent? I didn't notice. Seriously, I grew up in Southern New Jersey, just south of Atlantic City. We roll our O's the same way - phone, home, etc. I didn't know until I moved to Central New Jersey and someone mentioned it to me. My accent has changed since I have lived in different places and been exposed to other accents. However, I can still hear the native tongue when speaking to a native Southern New Jerseyan. I love your videos. With traffic, it is such a hassle to travel to the interesting places in your videos. You do a lot of walking. Thank you for doing the leg work for us!

It has been 25 years since I last visited Abingdon. It was so nostalgic watching your video. I loved the town's architecture. One of the historic markers made reference to General Joeseph E Johnston. Abingdon was a childhood home of his. His birthplace was in or near Farmville, Va. Really enjoy your enthusiasm.

The Preston's from Blacksburg were in Abingdon, also he mentioned the Col. James White House, where "the Saint of the Wilderness" was raised by his aunt and uncle. He was Robert S Sheffey. A Floyd was married to William Preston's daughter, and his mother was Sarah Sally Buchanan , daughter of Margaret Patton and John Buchanan of "Anchor of Hope Plantation" in present day Max Meadows, Virginia in Wythe County, Virginia.

If you walk around the back of the house you could see the opening of the caves. Its been told over the years the hold town of Abingdon is setting on caves. Confederates would use the caves to escape the union when they came in town. from the Martha to the cave house. Black Fort was right close to the Creeper Trail.
