This scene is so amazing for world building. Even people who never played the game can take a look and have a really good idea of the social inequality of this city, how there are flying cars and everything but an absurd amount of people living on the street, how even they have access to cyberwear(although just basic stuff) and it also shows how disconnected with death this city is since we can see a splash of blood just left there on the ground. Man, they give Night City so much freaking CHARACTER with just this short montage. It really makes it stand out as a unique and compelling location, and really adds to the verismilitude. So many other anime, scifi and fantasy, should really learn from this. Too many of them take place in generic cookie-cutter worlds that feel like minimal-effort video game cut scenes. I know this anime is based on an IP that has a 30+ year history of development, so they already had a rich background to draw on, but I really appreciate the extra effort taken here to really showcase it.

The think that I love about cyberpunk is that the portrayal of night city can easily be any cosmopolitan city in the American continent but with steroids, me leaving my home and looking at the amount of homeless crazy people, the opulence next door to the most absurd poverty, the apathy of the citizen towards the bizarrednes of their ambience, everything resonates with my own environment. Every time I see night city, in a very dark way, it hits home.
1:23 this is such a powerful scene that encapsulates david's naive attitude towards everything. This slouching, non-chalant "Ah, just another pool of blood on the streets of Night City in the morning to school!" being so unaware of the harshness of the world to come. Then that magical rainbow flicker across the screen as it highlights Lucy; his magic to chase out of this normalcy his mother has sheltered him in.

Wow, that's a nice detail. That's one of the good things about the internet, people with better eye to appreciate details share the details and we all can notice good things that otherwise we wouldn't have noticed.
One of the best scenes ever made in an anime. It perfectly visualizes David’s personality and inner struggle, perfectly sets the tone of night city, and teases the relationship he will have with the mystery girl. They knocked it out of the park in just a 2 minute scene.
As someone with a brother named David Martinez from Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), this hit different lol.
Take note those that want in the movie, theater or whatnot writing: this is how you introduce your world to the viewers
They did a great job of showing what Night City is like without a full on explanation scene. You can just see how much apathy is in the street and what the world is like.
Anyone notice the amount of foreshadowing? Rocket in the reflection of the train window (moon), trauma team (multiple times) and lucy making a guest appearance. Theres even a poster that says "strong arms" which could allude to David getting enhancement (specifically an arm from someone). And even the guy in the suit poster could be seen as Faraday.
I wish I could watch this all over again and I just finished it, great job Netflix please keep the same standard up

Is it a stretch that at 1:15 the billboards at the background looks like it foreshadows David punching the bully? Or how he walks towards the left side like he's leaning towards becoming an edgerunner?
This scene really does tell you allot about what you need to know about night city without having it shoved in your face
I love edge runners
You know your cooked when this banger starts playing:
This anime is one of the rare most anime’s that comes once or twice every year sad it needs more
交差点のアナウンスがゲームと一緒だったから感動した
It was always gonna end bad for David, even before the show came out there was a drink in game at the bar with "legend drinks" , David Martinez was one of them and the description always read, "go out with a bang" , its insane to me how that ended up becoming the premise of this amazing show.. i would of liked David to live but regardless he managed to become another Night city legend, i still think it was an incredible show.. im still salty about Becca tho 😢

@@bolivianthunderluz7198 it was literally added in the 1.5 update, I dont know what to tell you. Load up an older version of the game like 1.2 or 1.3 if you don't believe me. There aren't any videos older 7 months that mention David Martinez.

@@bolivianthunderluz7198 There was no 4d chess, it's just that the production of the anime, i think, started around i yeah, before the release of Cyberpunk 2077

As being someone who just finished the show, I’ve never felt so many conflicting emotions within the span of a series.
David became such a cool but tragic EDGE RUNNER... Loved his story!!!
David's journey from a level 1 thug to a level 99 mafia boss was a wild ride.
God I love edgerunners Keep posting for stuff about it Netflix
Un exelente trabajo,Trigger!..muy buena apuesta,Netflix!es una serie increible!hagan mas series del universo de cyberpunk!..mas historias como la de David Martinez..
Really good show, really good ending. Normally when people say "the pain is real" or something like that about a show, it's an overexaggeration; here, it absolutely applies. They built these characters up so well, solid writing.
I decided to follow Davids route in-game, which was actually a lot of fun. Right when he leaves the megabuilding, it's just a straight walk to the station. And then everything gets kind of strange. The closest station to the city center and Arasaka tower would be the memorial park metro. We then see him going across a crosswalk which actually faces away from the center in the opposite direction. The next under the overpass scene is on the opposite side of the street with the crosswalk which would make David turn back around towards the metro, or make a really big circle outside of the center (the second putting him walking in the right direction under that overpass. When walking to Petrochem David is actually walking from the other side of the building away from Petrochem based on the location of that overpass he walked under. so at some point he walked away and then turned around and walked toward the building. The next scene where he's looking up at the fish with the Militech building to his right, and the Arasaka building to his left, is once again walking away from the Petrochem building, meaning he did a 360 since the overpass (walking away, towards, away) The next Stair scene should be a floor above, looking at the H buildings between the Petrochem building and the Militech Building. He looks up to see Lucy on the left side of the staircase, (which is actually really close to that glass panel, He then runs to the opposite side of the staircase to look out over the city and for her, as matched with the two spinning orange cars. *After this video ends (Still on his way to school)* He runs to the right of the circle, ending up on the east side We see him standing on one of the elevated walkways at the top, looking at the Arasaka building, which means he either when back down and looped around to get on the correct Walkway, or he just keep running North and went up the walkway a little bit to look at the building. As the scene skips to him at the Academy, He would have walked back east again (or if he looped around, continues to walk east) and continued down two levels, then took a left towards the building entrance. It was fun tailing him even though a lot of the route is opposite of the correct direction, or looped around a bunch. I like figuring out which spot he was at and which direction he was moving.

try to recreate it?
It would be cool if the Edgerunner series was kinda like an anthology where every season tells a different story of the characters behind each of the afterlife beverages. SPOILER AHEAD: (For any who don't know, the afterlife is a bar within the game Cyberpunk 2077 in which the drinks are named after legendary figures of Night City who died. If you go there in game, you can actually order the David Martinez drink with a little synopsis about the character.)

もし興味があれば、この曲は「Rat Boy」というイギリスのパンクロックバンドによるもので、「Who Ready for Tomorrow」という曲です。
I loved the anime so much just like everyone else who watched it. I can now understand why everybody's feeling depressed and disappointed after the show
This scene perfectly highlighted what a disgusting yet amazing place Night City is
