I'm sitting here next to a river working on my laptop and watching this video. I have my Basecamp behind me. Every single person walking past the Basecamp is pointing and talking about it. I've owned three Airstreams and this Basecamp is the one that has gotten the most questions and "un-expected" visits. The Basecamp is very nice for a single person. Good for two people for a week (maybe full time if you are a new couple who are really in love). Just ok for a week with one child and a dog (we've done it and it was fine but we are used to living in a small space). The bed is really hard tho and I had to buy a foam pad to make it perfect for my way of sleeping. But we have enough space for two adults and one of two small children. I'm 5'9"... I think 6'1" or 6"2' could do it sleeping in the middle. I know it's more expensive than most of it's size. And probably could find one cheaper with more options. But I know for a fact that I could, if I had to, sell this Basecamp on Craiglist and have people in line waiting to buy it. I sold 2 Airstreams before and each one took a week to sell and NOT negotiation. How many other campers do you see sitting on the side of the road with FOR SALE signs for months or even years? For a small camper, it's definitely a great investment if you can afford it form the start. I just love it! I pull it with a small Audi SQ5 and it pulls like a charm. Barely feels it behind the small SUV. I use it as my mobile office on the road and have more than enough space for my gear. Great video Patrick! BTW, we bought our first Airstream from Colonial and Patrick was our sales guy. Amazing service and a lot of choices... It was worth driving down from Montreal to buy form them.

Rocky Mtn Uber Camper girl I haven’t been in the big colds yet but i’ve comfortably slept in it at -7C (about 20F). It’s not as well insulated as a regular Airstream (mich thinner walls) but the heating unit works well and heats the small space quickly. Much faster than our bigger 27FB Airstream. Ther is also a gray/black tank heater in the Basecamp which is a great addition. I think it can handle some basic winters well!

very helpful detail I watched the video of the VW camper in NJ and only heard your voice, I thought Raymond! ? haha but now I see this one and appreciate the close up of the details. Great job I have so many questions at what will be best for my next adventure. I've had a travel trailer which was way too long and dark and dated even though new. I love love the Living Vehicle and could even see myself "living" in that one on beautiful property. of course adore Airstreams. I have been all over the place lookins at Sprinter Vans...truck camper pop ups. I need to go see all these. once again love your videos.

Well that is quite a set up there. I really like that window. The one draw back for me is the size of the rear door. While it is plenty big for egress, it renders the trailer incapable of hauling a Harley. Otherwise I love it.Patrick, that was an excellent presentation. Very informative. Great job.

Really really good and thorough demo! Obviously this is a very light trailer with amenities. Nets instead of cabinet doors, etc. Everything is there, though diminutive. Nice trailer for the right customer.

Very thorough! I have been wanting to see this rig, so thanks for a very detailed run through.I have mixed reactions. Some of it is great, but other bits leave me rolling my eys. Too many snaps and zippers and things to break. It can only sleep a couple, like most units. I long for a bunk bed option. Not everyone camps/travels with a romantic partner. Not much storage in the kitchen, but I think this rig is designed pretty much for weekend trips, so it’s probably adequate. Love the propane covers, but hate the freezer inside the fridge--these ice up and require constant defrosting. It is certainly distinctive and wuld make a statement at the campground!

None of the windows seem to open, and there’s no window in the bathroom…. Only way to get air it seems is to leave the doors open…. But there’s no screen door, just a roll down fabric thing…. That’s a major negative, even the cheapest camper has windows that open… And that door in the back is really too small to load something like bicycles or a motorcycle…. so you have to wonder, what’s the point of the second door in back then…

The best presentation that l have ever seen very knowledgeable on every aspect of the product. No time restraints you should train other's salesmen around the country and be a spokesman for Airstream.........Great Job

David, Thank you for the message. I would recommend checking with your selling dealer. There were a few Basecamps produced with the wrong tool to lower the tire. This demonstration is also done in the orientation when you pick up your Airstream from the selling dealer.

This is the 2nd time I watched this, He really knows Airstream products and explains not only how something works in theory but also in practice he obviously camps or listens to those who do. Airstream makes solid long lasting products however I'm not sure this small trailer is there forte' ok I'm not crazy about the fridge or micro both too small but its a small trailer so that's not fair, but... the bed is not well thought out, when he says its comfortable enough for 3 days that doesn't give me confidence that its comfortable at all. I like when he said use only half the bed and other for sitting but with those tables setup for support how are you to sit ? Winnebago does a half or 3/4 bed that I look at and want to sleep there, hek there over cockpit bed is amazing. So Airstream may want to work on that, other than that this is first class and it should be its a top dollar item. Thanks again!

Excellent video presentation, Patrick. I especially like your detailed show/explanation of the Truma Furnace/Hot Water Heater combi which replaces the old trouble-prone Atwood HWH & noisy furnace. I've always been concerned about heat loss with all the windows, however, you showed the blackout curtains which can be zipped up to better retain heat on a cold night. RIGHT ON, about recommending the wheel bearings be repacked every 3,000 miles. For one person, just MEeee, is there any way to for the bed/eating area to be set up so I could sleep on one side & leave a table in place for eating? I'm 5'6".

Patrick.... THANK YOU!!! I H-A-V-E to get one!!! I am aware of the XL model & wish you could do as informative a vid as this one detailing the differences.... What would your thoughts be in ONE MOD I see already? The front cover for the propane tanks. A sine wave generator? They have them with remote control & small enough to maybe fit....? If not, a small modification to the housing, etc... could make that a "NO-SEE-UM" type way to carry & use an expensive device since they are lightweight and catch the eye.... Any feedback on that thought would be excellent! Also, is there an available roof rack system for these? I'm aware of the tent features and believe if remember correctly there was something for the roof as well.... My only drawback is flush mounting solar panels , but that would not be too much a problem since any cargo up top would be removed once the Base Camp is setup! Best price on this one????!!!!!!!!

The battery location is under the floor by the sink area and can accommodate a 2nd 24 series 12V battery. An Inverter can be installed aftermarket.

curious about the glass window in the front - I know that on other campers, rocks tend to chip away at the body when a trailer is towed - do the windows withstand rocks and how expensive, difficult would replacement of those beautiful windows?

I see a little issue... the co2 alarm shoulden't it be mounted lower than the bed, as co2 is heavier than air it will fill the camper like water from the bottom. So if you are sleeping the alarm wont wake you til way after the co2 level is over ur head...
