It's sad to say but musicians don't get paid enough for their work in bollywood. The composers and the singers are paid only once , the money from the streaming and rights goes to the label and the producers of the movie respectively and singers are paid almost nothing. They make most of their money from concerts. anirudh probably charges the highest per movie which is about 1.2 million dollars but even that is only fraction of the collection of movie he composes for like jawan made almost 150 million $

Bro what r u even talking about... Even if we assume what you are saying is all true, 1.2Mil USD for an album is not bad at all. It's not an original project. They are hired to do it. And it has got Nothing to do with how much money the movie makes. This is how things work internationally too. The only difference is that international artists mainly make Indie music. They don't usually work with labels which is why they make more money. In India, you can see artists like Prateek Kuhad, or Anuv Jain, or Indian hiphop artists, they're making independent music and they're making 💰💰💰💰

It was a clip from a Kailash Kher interview. He was telling how back in the 2000s, even the biggest Bollywood singers like Udit Narayan and Sonu Nigam were charging ₹10,000 per song... And just 20 years later, singers are making 100x more (consider the fact that songs now are much shorter than they used to be earlier).

@@omkarkatore bro all musical artists in the world mainly make money from live performances. Forget musicians, even comedians mainly make money from live shows. It's not coz Bollywood, or other agencies aren't paying enough. Those are the market rates. Concerts obviously pay more coz the audience is directly paying a lot of money to be there. If a singer releases a song under a label, and according to you, not a lot of Indians buy subscriptions and shiz... It just means that the labels make less money from the songs too, which in turn means that the singers get lesser pay too.

Gadar 2 songs specially Dil Jhoom and Chal tere Ishq mein ( Neeti mohan version) is Awesome. Must watch. Udd jaa kale kawan is a remake but good❤

At 7:08 that can be a set or a temple I am not sure, but during Durgapujo or Navratri, every colony and society in West Bengal has pandals built for Durga ma. If you decide to come to India during October, you must visit the pandals because they are equally as, if not more stunning than what's shown in movies.

Just a point about "how much money music composers make" -- I'm quite sure that the composers themselves (A.R. Rahman, Pritam, Vishal-Shekhar etc) do not own the rights to the music -- these publishing rights are held with the Production Companies such as T-Series or Zee Music who get the massive chunk of royalties. The royalties system in Indian has been a hot mess for a very long time, there is a movement to rectify this -- but I think at the moment, the singers don't even get royalties

In India, music rights work differently, the singers do not get the music rights, the music banner like sony music, T-Series, saregama gets the music and songs rights, yashraj and if the singers even sing those songs in their concerts or stage shows, they have to pay royalty to the production banner. So the industry doesn't pays where the credit is due and singers are not paid well, since movie music is streamed and has large presence, it showcases the singer's work, but to be frank they aren't earning much from singing in movies, they are paid well for the stage shows, tours, concerts. It is sad, i know. I remember one tweet of AR rahman where he talked about one of his song getting remade and banners ruined it.

Only on paper. A lot of music directors have complained about it but nothing is done and artists don't want to offend the labels so they keep silent as well.

The music rights co- owned own by labels, production house and music composers ( only if they are big name in the industry).. and singers got paid & they also has rights on songs on audio and streaming platforms only. In 50's or 60's there was huge fight between lata ji and rafi Sahab ... Lata wanted royalty on songs with composer and rafi sahab was ok just being paid and he & asha Bhosle didn't supported her , lata really got angry on rafi sahab & did not talk to him for 5 years.. their duet songs were very famous that time but due to this fight asha bhosle and other singer ( who had voice like lata mangeshkar ) got chance to sing with rafi da for 5 years...😅 And also Arijit Singh sings bollywood for free from few years... because almost all industry musicians are his friends and he do earn lots of money by concerts.
