it's more a defiant response from wales. After NZ perform the Haka, traditionally, the opposition (wales) are supposed to move off first. I love the Haka...and I loved Wales response to it......like seeing who blinks first...and the All-Blacks did! Who needs ridiculously expensive pyrotechnics and cheerleaders when the crowd can be drawn into the tension and importance of the game like this?

WOW ... and the crowd roars the whole way through ... loving it.BUT ... there's power in silence folks. Wales responded perfectly.

Being English, I don't particularly like the Welsh that much. But that is, by far, the best response I've seen to the Haka. Granted, most responses are quite crap, but that was quality.

I'm a Maori and it doesn't mean anything to "not back down", the Haka isn't supposed to scare the opposition, it's a declaration of our will to win and the AllBlacks usually wait for the opposition to do whatever their cultural songs or chants etc are.

the war dance is a tradition passed down for generation. we do it out of culture, of the spiritual rally it gives us, and in rememberance of who we are. the war dance is not meant to entertain the audience, it is to benefit those in preparation for the upcoming event.
