One of the #1advantages to ground hunting is the ability to move or swap sides of the feed tree if the wind shifts like it does. Also you can cut you 3 or 4 pieces of 1 or 1 1/2 inch pvc, cut one end in an angle. Shove them in the ground in front of your seat and put cut branches in them or palmetto bushes. Works like a charm, cheap and super easy, no weight. Instant concealment. Cut them about 2 foot long. I still wanna see Daisy tree some squirrels. Good luck this year.

I’ve had a pac seat and kill suit for several years now and have not used it very much. I got frustrated with the process of tree stand hunting a couple of weeks ago on an out of town hunt. I started thinking about my pac seat and how easy it was. Your videos help push me more in that direction. I had 2 hunts this week with deer within 7-8 yards. One little buck hung around me on the ground for 30 min eating acorns before he noticed my eyes move and busted out. He was that close! The next hunt I had a doe at 7ish yards and she busted me drawing. She had seen me coming in but could not figure out what I was. I’m sold on the kill suit now. Even though I wasn’t successful, those 2 hunts rank up there in excitement with any other successful hunts I’ve done. Ha, I may be having a yard sale soon liquidating all my tree stand stuff. Thanks Brother for the motivation/inspiration to hunt from the ground and for the enjoyment I get from following your videos. Take care and God bless

Agree with everything you say. Just putting this out there for alternatives to being up a tree. Tree saddles or anything pertaining to saddle hunting can be used at the base of a tree. Run and gun options are only limited to any tree under four inches or so. You can swivel in any direction. The only problem with comfort is staying awake 😊. Bulk and weight are minimal. Not sure how cost compares but since you aren't up the tree and safety isn't a consideration home made slings and non climbing rated items are adequate. Good luck! I just wish I had the deer numbers you have but the wolves have devastated the entire region.

I've used the saddle on the ground many times. Actually had a Bobcat walk down a felled tree 3 yards away from me. A little nerve racking but one of the coolest experiences I have ever had!

Ground hunting is becoming my mainstay as my walking ability gets worse. But sometimes I am forced to use a pop up because I end up moving too much. my body aches too much now at times. Some of those chairs are almost impossible for me to get up out of at times. Bad legs, feet and back. And you are now using what I call the worth factor, not doing something because it simply ain't worth it to you anymore. You don't have to if you don't feel like it. Shine on Brother

Hey Robert, I've been using a Waldrop for a few years now. It actually weighs just under 5lbs. but feels much lighter and has a wonderful strap system. I hunt only from the ground and this Pac Seat is a necessity. A couple of hints. The joints can be oiled with a light oil when you've used it a while and it creeks. You can also wax underneath the material if it makes a slight sound. The seat can be used in so many situations. I too dreaded climbing a tree. Now I bump around and the deer cannot pattern me.

Your setup is well thought out Robert. If I could add a small tip I found that helped me was to carry small pieces of plywood to put under the legs. Man I have found out the hard way that soft muddy spots and your chair legs will sink too low or the chair can be not level which can be frustrating. I got some rubber pieces for my chair legs that are wider than the original ones but the 3" x 3" square plywood pieces under each leg is the best. Just got home from hunting but no luck. I haven't watched your Gillie suit video yet but will. I love using one. I cut the left arm off up to a short sleeve. Could not stand all the mess on my bow arm. But thanks for another great instructional video.

I have heard that you can put tennis balls under the chair legs to help keep them from sinking into mud. You might want to try that.

I can't wait to save up for this chair There's multiple spots by me that I believe ground hunting would b3 best. Can only sit Indian style for so long before the legs go asleep! Can't wait to be comfortable ground hunting!

Great video! Robert i just got back from a hunt in WV on a private farm. Went out with my stand in the dark to a spot with a lot of buck rubs and scrapes and couldn't get in any tree with my lock on. Went back to the truck got my pacseat and setup in 2min and had a doe walk by 12y away but got busted my fault! Loved every minute of it. Can't wait to do it again gonna get one on the ground with my long bow.

I’m 100% with you. I think I’ve climbed a tree once this season; been in the pac seat nearly every sit, and I’ve killed more so far this season than I did the last. Lightweight, quiet, comfortable, and you can make a move in seconds.

I have begun hunting from the walmart chair because of you. I am on my second year of saddle hunting and love it but like you, I enjoy hunting from the ground and will be increasing my time on the ground. I would go full time but the saddle equipment was expensive and I just have to use it some. I will be ground hunting in my saddle some as well. Thank you and God bless you for sharing your experiences with us.

Like You, I have begun to hunt the ground more. Have used many different seats like, stools, buckets. Last year I got the Millineum Tree seat and put backpack straps on it. Very Comfortable. Might just add this Pack Seat to my ground hunting arsenal. Looks like it would work better for Spring Gobbler. Thank You for your efforts and taking us along with You.

Yeah, ive got hundreds of dollars wrapped up in saddle gear, which I do like and it has its place. But most of the time I end up just still hunting and setting up on the ground with a mobile folding chair. Wanna get one of these waldrop seats to improve the versatility and comfort of my ground game. After shooting a 200 lb 9 point buck off the ground seat this year in indiana im sold on the ground game. Youve gained a subscriber.

Robert I’m 55, live in South Louisiana and hunt similar terrain with mainly recurves. In 2016 I had a bad fall from a lock on stand and was lucky to escape with only a broken arm and loss of pride. I decided to change to ground hunting and have used a 5 gallon bucket and burlap drape for concealment. I watched your folding chair video, decided to grab one from Wally World and noticed the issue with the feet so I started researching. The wife found something called “Chair Buddies” meant for the beach but I found this video and thought you might appreciate either concept kzread.info/dash/bejne/gatt2JicfqbadZM.htmlsi=AJm8TwXWVa3DzLQf

@@robertcarte95 I keep my burlap drape outside to soak up rain and keep it in a trash bag full of leaves and pine needles in the back of my truck. I haven’t noticed it spooking animals and have killed several. I don’t use it every time but it’s there if I need a lil extra. The Army Jungle School taught us to think by the principles of cover & concealment and both light and density factor in the equation. One key approach to face paint is blacken the high spots and ridges then put the lighter paints in the eye sockets. Your ghille breaks up the discernible edges which is why you should feel confident in it 👍🏼. God bless, happy hunting
