Waldemar Januszczak and Shaun Greenhalgh's 'Gauguin Faun'
Фильм және анимация
In 2004, Waldemar made a biography of the great Paul Gauguin, and was intrigued by this Faun. However, two years later, it turned out the work was a fake made by the genius 'Bolton Forger' Sean Greenhalgh.
The Faun was first sold at Sotheby's in 1994, and bought by the Art Institute of Chicago in 1997, where it was hailed as "One of the most important acquisitions of the last 20 years". Despite being a forgery, it's a truly stunning work, and shows Greenhalgh's great skill and knowledge of the artist and his practice.

Art experts? As we used to say in the armed forces, 'I've shit 'em'.
Well, that's great. Try deleting this, then.
