I think it’s because a lot of us heard this song as a kid on the radio often It truly brings back memories for me, both good and bad. Listening to this song while going on trips to Florida every summer, hearing it on my dad’s playlist on journeys to Aldi, going home at 12:00AM after a night out and hearing this, hanging out with my friend in her room listening to this song after figuring out I wasn’t straight, heading to Texas to meet my grandpa during his cancer treatment, going to Florida again, but this time wanting to see my great grandma before she passed, and then she went to the angels before we made it to Florida. I’ve replayed this song so many times to try to relive these memories. It hurts, but gives me a sense that everything I’ve lost is still there. This song has a great emotional value to me, and there’s nothing that could change that.

I was so innocent then - so pure and oblivious to the terrors of the world. Back then, I loved this song for the rhythm. Now, I understand the lyrics.

The saddest part about it is you have at least one solid memory of this song. Whether you were dancing around your room with your sister while it played through a crappy iPod, or you blasted it over the speakers in a party, no matter how you know it, avicii may be gone but his songs still live through us, through these versions of songs and the originals and just. Keep playing the songs we used to love. That’s the only way we’ll get through this.

*Me listening to this song when i was younger with my father, bringing back the memories of the good days when he was still alive 4 years ago.*

This makes me feel an emotion that doesn't exist. Its just so hard to explain but everyone has felt it before. Listening to slowed + reverb versions of my favorite childhood nostalgic songs makes me feel grown. Like it makes me realize the position that I'm in in life, and how much i've grown. Actually yes this is an emotion that exist, it's called "New Nostalgia" and "Growing Up." Because that's what it is. Or at least that's what i'm calling it from now on.
