There aren't many benchmark/KZreadrs doing proper testing to what's best. Server level CPUs are build to handle more RAM not by limitation of a number but less bottlenecks when addressing too much stuff load on it. I always seen the maximum amount of RAM for a specific CPU the same way a GPU has a maximum amount given they can't drive so much data efficiently pass a certain point, you need to upgrade the CPU at that point and same goes for a GPU (bigger the size the more speed and channels of communication you wanna have/need). I do wonder what happen if you put 128GB of a very weak CPU and load it with bunch of statics programs on it, then compare the performance with a high end CPU both pushing a game or something as you have the ram fill with 100GB of static crap on it. And this is the reason I say, I haven't seen anyone do proper benchmarks for this things other than dual slow vs quad slots just stressing the memory controller and they endup with the conclusion dual-slot rams are better for speed, stability and overclocking...

Hey Paul, I love your work. I always look forward to watching your videos during my study breaks. Maybe increase the frequency of the videos a bit. I have watched so many PC build videos that I am now confident of the process. But, one thing I am not sure how to go about in the building process is the case fans and RGB assembling process. There's no comprehensive on how to setup multiple fans with limited fan headers and RGB header. Basically, I'd love a detailed video on setting up RGB+fans from assembling to customizing on software for synchronization of lights. Believe me, there's isn't any comprehensive video on this that explains each and every part. I'd love to see separate videos for this. ❤️

Since you said I should: I built my first ever computer after watching your step-by-step process several times. I had "inherited" an old computer from my friend and actually went in and fixed a couple mistakes that had been made, but it never felt like my own. I then spent around 6 months gathering (starting last July/August) my computer parts piecemeal and built it this past January. It took around 7 hours to make sure I did everything right (including cable management), but my computer still runs like a dream, has had no issues, and is very well "future-proofed." Since then I have built two other systems for friends of mine. They gave me a budget and thanks to your monthly build vids, I was able to stay within their budget and then build the computers for them! In addition, any troubleshooting they may have I can now fix and it all started here!!

After watching one of your videos on taking an old pc and installing new hardware in it I decided to do that to my old HP P6000 series pc. I installed an Asrock b450m pro 4 mb along with a Ryzen 2600x and 16g of 3600 speed ddr4 memory. I was able to keep my upgraded version of Windows 10 (upgraded from Windows 7) and I installed a new 650 watt power supply as well. Thought it was going to be a modular power supply but it wasn't so I had a real birds nest of cables shoved in next to my hard drive cage and zip tied in place. I installed 3 70mm case fans where I could find space to fit them and it worked really well. I never would have attempted that build if it wasn't for your video showing it was possible. I have since purchased an H510 pc case and moved everything into it except the dvd/cd drive. Been driving trucks over the road for 30 plus years and if I can build a pc then anyone can do it. Thanks for the videos and sharing your knowledge. It has opened a new horizon for me and it's going to be interesting to see where it goes.

12:02 You don't need to duplicate HDMIs at all; receivers support multiple HDMI sources nowadays - you just connect your PC to one of these, select that input on the receiver and it will send the video to the TV while decoding the audio locally. The ARC part is used to allow your TV to stream audio back to the receiver via the same single HDMI connection (hence the name Audio Return Channel), i.e. while watching Netflix or KZread on the TV so that the sound could be played through the surround system as well.

Having a external capture device for video (in my case a old Hauppage Rocket) made is really importent to have the audio pass thru the video card (Hdmi) so the audio was in sync with the video. A bit odd so few people mention it, back then i went thru so many different setups & troubleshoots but no one mentioned the video card passthru. A real "doh!" moment when someone randomly mentioned you had to select the right windows audio output unit, and sure enough it was in there all along. Also next step was of cause to have a hdmi spitter after the capture device so you yourself can hear the aoutput live as well. A bit of a cable mess but its a one time setup so np.

Absolutely love these episodes, have you given any thought to showing update builds? We see budget builds all over and many speak about leaving an update path but showing updates might also be interesting. I have updated my Ryzen 5 2600 build which had a lowly XFX 580 and 3200mhz memory to a 5700xt Taichi and 3600 speed memory but I noticed my cinabench score actually went lower. I think the latency on my memory might be the cause.

i was just thinking about the hardline cooling and couldnt you technically have quick disconnects on that as well you would just have to make sure your bends would work with the disconnects on each end so making sure both ends can be unhooked at the same time and then pull straight away... idk just an idea i might look into :)

You should set up a home audio system with HDMI as follows PC/GPU -> Audio Receiver -> TV HDMI standard allows a device to pass a video signal as long as it does not have an HD display. HDMI prevents TVs from passing multi Chanel audio if they have a speaker. HDPC will work if set up as described with a TV and receiver that support it. Most receivers are also HDMI switches, good if you have consoles as well as your PC. I am typing this on a Home theater PC plugged into a 5.2 receiver then into a TV. Set up is HDR 4k ready but I cant afford a new TV yet for that.

Question: Thanks Paul, love your work, I would like to know what is the relationship between the PSU and an UPS wattage? Do the UPS need to have the same wattage that the one in the CPU + monitor? or can it be that we can use a UPS (watts) CPU + Monitor (watts); UPS (watts) = CPU + Monitor (watts); and the only thing that would be affected is the duration of the charge hold by the UPS. Again, thanks for your time.

I built my first PC by myself by following your 3 part Beginner's Guide. In the past, I had to buy prebuilt or ask a friend to help. Your guide along with many other guide helpful techies on KZread has given me to confidence to go beyond just building a PC for gaming and into the realm of overclocking and setting up HTPC's. My PC falls along the lines of mid-tier $800-$1200 gaming systems along with some basic VM for learning IT skills. I am grateful for the content, and I want to thank you for saving me from buying any more prebuilt systems like a cuck or a simp... or whatever the kids are calling each other in competitive fps games these days.

Starting with my 290x and continuing with my 1080 and 2080ti I've used HDMI out from the GPU, it goes into a atmos receiver and then to my LG OLED. You would think it adds tons of latency however I tested it using the tried and true mouse click and LED method. It added 38ms of latency not including the 9ms of latency the TV adds. It's not noticable during gameplay. I've been playing this way for... 7 years.

There is a lot to be tested out about how sound travels and if it gets distorted in any ways. From system drivers, trough hardware paths, how close stuff amplifier see is lining up with the digital source. Haven't really seen analysis of it. Like, what is the point of DAC if signal at the motherboard already have been tinkered with? I only heard that HDMI signal is raw, while spdif/toslink being transcoded within onboard audio.

I was looking a while ago again at the page for the awesome Dell Studio XPS desktops they shamefully now got rid of and how you could put 4 drives into it. So like the ram could you have or not too many SSDs or HDDs? I kinda think not as you would go into each 1 individually but what if you do the rade thing?

Most home theatre recievers have HDMI passtrough so you connect the card HDMI to the reciever and then the reciever to the display, many even passthrough Blu-ray 3d. Makes it easier to have multiple devices, just switch input on the reciever.

Hardline looks good, but soft tubing is easier to work with. I used to use ONLY soft tubing (1/2” ID Tygon), but decided to do 1/2” PETG on my last built, and it really was a learning process. I think I spent over $2000 on my dual loop, once you add up the cost of everything (including the tools for doing the PETG cutting & bending).

Hey Paul, long time fan here. Thanks for the videos and the builds. I still have a sealed Corsair SPEC 02 Alpha for a build I was going to make years ago. I left it for later since I didn't have the money back then. But now, I don't know if I can use this case or rather buy a new one. Are the cases of now better than those in the past? Do I "upgrade" to a new case or use the one I have already?

Hey Paul, great content, keep it up! Hope my question isn't too late for the next video. I'm building for the first time and one of my concerns is airflow. I have the ASRock B550M Pro4 Motherboard and i'm planning on putting it in the Corsair iCue 220T case and pairing them with a CoolMaster MWE 550W PSU. The case comes with 3 fans already installed and Corsairs Lighting Node Core for pretty RGB-ness. I would like to add a couple of additional (exhaust) fans but i'm confused about powering them. I'm fairly certain that the Pro4 wont have the capacity to power 5 RGB fans by itself. What would be the best way (fewest cables/cheapest) to power these fans? (Electricity is hard man) Thanks in advance for any help!

Hey Paul, I'm planning out my "next-gen" computer build, probably something to the tune of a R7 4700X, RTX3080 Super, X570 Tomahawk mobo, 16gb 3600hz memory, 360mm AIO. My questions are: 1) Is there any components I should pick up now, or should I wait until everything is released? 2) I'm thinking of throwing a 850w Gold power supply in this computer, what do you think the ranges of "minimal", "reasonable", and "overkill" are for PSUs? (honestly wattage required is something a very rarely hear anything about.) 3 ) (optional) Is this a balanced build? Am I over or under spending on something?

12:40 Modern audio-video receivers (AVRs) are usually supposed to be the entry point. You plug your GPU's HDMI into them, as well as also something like a CD/DVD/BD player or a console or whatever, and then pick which output goes to the TV from the remote. HDMI CEC sometimes allows you to even just use one remote for the whole setup, but that's often janky. And ARC is left for if Android/cable content is needed. If your priority is sound quality, your AVR should probably be the first thing to receive sound. Maybe if you're worried about latency (for gaming), it would make sense to feed HDMI to the TV first. And then there's a whole can of worms of playing music on the same setup: HDMI requires a video channel to output audio (so, a mapped desktop in OS), TV might not passthrough your audio when off, using SPDIF/TOSLINK for pure stereo is more convenient but might lead to marginally worse audio etc. etc.

My Onkyo 5.1 surround amp has HDMI inputs fed by my 2 PCs GPU outputs and Firestick, it outputs the audio out to my surround speakers and passes the video signal through to my screen. There are 4 HDMI inputs and the Onkyo remote selects between them. The Onkyo handily also strips the HDCP from the signal to the TV allowing 4k from the Firestick.

An important point to consider, and this is more relevant in regards to current Ryzen CPUs, is that larger capacity DIMMs aren't often available at higher speeds. Buying a lower speed higher capacity kit, provided you won't need the data capacity, may inhibit performance.
