This is the difference between Alexander and Aaron. Alexander takes every possible shot he can, knowing that he does have some to lose, and that motivates him. but Aaron waits for the opportunity to come to him. He believes that the opportunity will show itself at one time. He too has something to lose, but the fear of losing it keeps him from pursuing his goals rather than motivating him. Idk, that's just what I'm getting from the two songs.

Kevinobsessed I almost had my iPad hit my nose when I was hearing this with earbuds.

I feel really sorry for Aaron Burr, he's the villain and doesn't even have bad intentions. It's the fact that he's too scared of losing the legacy his parents gave him that makes him wait for the opportunity to come, making the wrong decisions on the long run. And when he finally learns the lesson of "not throwing away his shot" knowing that he has something to lose (his daughter), he ends up killing Hamilton who did "throw away his shot".

I'm not sure that's what happened. He decided what he wanted and he chased after it. Alexander took that away from him and he got so mad he challenged him to a duel. He didn't wait for the first time in his life and he paid for it.

I always found this song REAAALYY good. Even tho Burr is soposed to be the "bad guy", I never desliked him. And this song was one of the reasons why. He’s not supposed to be the bad guy. The whole play goes through his life too because I’m pretty sure he’s the deuteragonist. He kills Hamilton but at the end he points out how he’s the villain in history which I think is trying to point out how Hamilton is depicting a different person than that as depicted by a mostly one sided history itself. Either the musical has a different Burr than in real life or they’re saying Burr had a lot of heart and motivation. Either way, in my opinion Burr is not the villain-and also in my opinion he’s a way nicer and likable person (in the musical) than Hamilton.

At 2:32, it looked like Burr was holding a gun and I'm not sure if that was intentional but if it was, that was the best foreshadowing! I loved this animatic, I wish I could like this more than once

I just realized that the line, "Hamilton faces an endless uphill climb," has two meanings. First, an uphill climb is a phrase used to mean that something will be difficult to achieve. Given Hamilton's whole backstory, this is definitely true. The other meaning is that, if this climb is endless, he will keep rising up without any limits. This ends up being false as we see when Hamilton peaks near the middle of the musical and then his life starts to fall apart bit like by bit.

Everyone says Burr is the bad guy, but if you really think about it, he did almost nothing wrong. He waits for thing to come to him. He has discipline, patience. When he got his shot at being president, he felt his whole life had worked to that point. And then Hamilton, one of his best friends, rips it away from him. His world was over, he felt his life was meaningless, and he was angry. He knew it was over, and all because of Hamilton. So what he did was right in my mind.

I like how this song in a way explains burs reason for the way he goes about things, bur has lost something and Hamilton has lost something. Bur has more trouble dealing with it while Hamilton is willing to gamble everything for his next chance

I just got into Hamilton, but this animatic, its so amazing!!! Burr is actually one of my favorites, he just has such a sad story that no one really understands. Just this video describes it so well! Amazing job!!!!

The amount of emotion put into his facial expressions and body movements is so fucking inspiring, like when he puts his head in his hands and then puts his arms to the side of his head and smiles, just, OH MY GOD. You catch emotion SO WELL it's amazing, holy shit

Normally I hate when animatics stop the music, but this time I felt that it worked.

This is not only my favorite "Wait for It" animatic, it's one of my favorite Hamilton animatics. The visuals are so good! Especially 2:24-2:45! Even though Hamilton is not really there and all of this is in Burr's mind, the dynamic angles while still maintaining the character's positions makes the confrontation more physical and real for the audience, and by extension, makes the audience feel that it's more real for Burr as well. I feel like many people try to stick too much to realism when they animate these songs (as in, what is probably actually going on [e.g. a character standing and emoting]), and they don't focus on the song and what it means for the characters involved and the largely mentally-contained nature of their singing it. Thank you so much! This is really good!
