Sotin is an amazing Gurnemanz, what a magnificent performance! One of the greatest bass ever! For him my endless ovation!

The Amfortas and the Parsifal look and sing very well. Amazing how Wagner's very prolix telling of a naive, even silly tale never fails to move me.

Very nice.. I usually don't like tempi this slow, but Sinopoli draws great color and harmonies from this chorus and orchestra. He's sorely missed.

A really excellent performance. The funeral march in the third act is done just as it should be...solemn and somber...the other two reviewers should stick to Nabucco and Barber of Seville and leave operas who require a brain to apprehend to those who possess one.

I think Poul Elming is very good here, especially in the final moments, and also by comparison with other living and/or recent Parsifals; and Maestro Sinopoli is deeply missed.

Find his singing very strained. Siegfried Jerusalem was vastly superior and later on Jonas Kaufmann, among others. (Not to mention Jon Vickers and other exemplary interpreters from earlier eras).

My only complaint is that Kundry does not die at the end. They sabotaged a major dramatic point....Kundry finally receiving the death she's so long yearned for.

Please allow me to disagree. Also Amfortas pleads for his death, but .... "nur eine Waffe taugt!" Parsifal brings re-birth and new life to all, including Kundry. There´s hope for her too, even if denied it by Wagner´s genius

2:09:33 - 2:10:36 has got to be the most miserable, morbid Death March I've ever heard.

I agree! Wagner's operas have mean and morbid moments - not only in PARSIFAL.
