Yes in my family I have the same system... I don’t ask them anything except on bdays, special celebrations or if it’s a reward day... my parents never asked us our preference and we don’t spoil our kids with so many choices. I say it’s a kitchen not hotel so you eat what’s being served. My mom says it’s a privilege to be well fed and nourished so be grateful, I’m glad I never spoilt my kids like my friends do
