This looks very similar to "Koku" from Gyokko Ryu.

Wado s never looked so boring!

I would rather see these techniques done against wood or plastic weapons with speed rather real ones done at a snail's pace.

How come they always show the same techniques in Wado-ryu ? There got to be more to it than just that.

I began Wado Ryu in the 70s in London. The practitioners were very fit and fast. The more I see of Wado today, the practitioners are overweight, unfit, lack flexibility. They look like they are slow and merely going through the motions. A pale comparison of yesteryear. Sad to see.

They do have more but in this particular event, they show only techniques related to koryu.

Thanks for this question. I've studied Wado-Ryu for 10 years. I feel like there are indeed few codified Jiu-jitsu techniques found the mainstream curriculum. To me Wado-Ryu is Shotokan but with a more invasive mindset and theoritically more jiu-jitsu techniques. That being said jiu-jitsu techniques are not often practiced in my experience.

@@jean4j_.. I have a past as a Jiu jitsuka 😁 It's just that, several Wado-ryu videos show a lot of the same techniques. But lately i have seen these comparison videos of karate styles.

Very slow, limited skills, left action, week tecniques, simple skills, no eficient in real situation, very slow...

Man just respect what they do it is a demonstration . And if you think wado-karate is weak go there and "test" them out.

these guys would be crushed by any good MMA combatant.
