lack of faith in Sega. They kept releasing shit too quickly, so they ended up dropping support very quickly for their previous console/add on. Not to mention it was hard for them to keep up with the PS2 because it had DVD support, so it was just a better deal for people. especially since DVD players used to be very expensive in the beginning, so it was killing two birds with one stone. And Sega sold the Dreamcast for so cheap to try and give a reason to buy it instead of it's competitors, having to buy parts from other companies(more expensive). Which Sony really didn't have to do because most of/if not all of the parts are their own. Honestly, my only issue with the Dreamcast was that I really wished they released a controller with dual analog sticks. I fucking hate tank styled games with the dreamcast: Resident Evil, Alone in the Dark, etc. Really fun games. But I can't get past the controls.

no dvd player so the PS2 took it down

dreamcast had the best boot up sound i liked that dripping sound

I love Wacky Races, Loved the wii game(gotta get that back, since I now own a wii u)...I've never played this one. I didn't even know this game existed back in our Dreamcast days. My Dreamcast days were pretty much all about 2K games & WWF Royal Rumble. I may have to get another one from my local mom & pop game store, so I can pick this up & give it a try....cause like I said, I LOVE me some Wacky Races. Gotta get those dvds too lol haven't seen it in a while

+JuniorCogdell this game is the best I've ever played. As a PS2 user, I can say if you wanna more addons, pick the PS2 version: example: it has one plus track 'theme' (there are forests, desert, snowy, and in the ps2 we have: CITY!) in addition of some other things too...

I find it funny that Clyde sounded like Tigger from "Winnie-the-Pooh". And humorously enough I said that it's because he, Dick Dastardly and Private Meekley are all originally voiced by Paul Winchell and all three being voiced by Jim Cummings in this game feels like a casting gag.

Dreamcast IS the console you must play if you have lived in 90',so much game soul calibur,ecco the Dolphins,Shen mue and more game like wacky race ,first console on internet connexion

It is my favorite console. It has 2 of my favorite JRPGs Grandia 2 and Skies of Arcadia, also it has some of my other favorite RPGs like Silver and Elemental Gimmick Gear. The PS2 sold much better though, had a much longer officially supported lifespan and thus got most of the greatest game of that generation. That said with the year and a half that the dreamcast was supported I think it put out a very comparable library to any of the other consoles of its gen. Within their first year and a half. In the end the dreamcast outlived them all since it still has a bunch of releases every year by Indie Developers. I have 6 games on pre oder for it right now and just got some in last month

I think the HDMI is just to hook it up to a modern TV. It doesn't change much in terms of picture quality. You need a VGA.

XBOX was the successor. Microsoft worked with Sega at the time for the Dreamcast. Then Microsoft took the Dreamcast design and made the XBOX. Look at the prototype for the XBOX system and it's controller. It's downright uncanny!

Actually, most people will list a crap ton of awesome games on the PS2. DMC 1 & 3, MGS 2 & 3, God of War 1 & 2, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, Ratchet & Clank series, Jak & Daxter Series, Sly Cooper series, GTA series. But go ahead and keep being a delusional Sega fanboy. The only logical explanation for the Dreamcast's horrible failure was that it was just too awesome and that people don't like good video game consoles. That must be it. Couldn't be that its library was a joke.
