WACC National Security Series with Dr. Fiona Hill

On December 14th, 2023, the World Affairs Council of Charlotte hosted an enlightening lunch with Dr. Fiona Hill, former Senior Director for European and Russian Affairs on the National Security Council and Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution, and recent Chancellor of Durham University in England as of June 2023.
As an intelligence analyst under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama from 2006 to 2009, Dr. Hill served as the National Intelligence Officer for Russia and Eurasia at the National Intelligence Council. She is a distinguished member of the Council on Foreign Relations and serves on the board of trustees of the Eurasia Foundation. During the Trump administration (2017-2019), Dr. Hill took a leave of absence from the Brookings Institution, where she was the director for the Center on the United States and Europe, to serve as Deputy Assistant to the President and Senior Director for European and Russian Affairs on the National Security Council staff.
Did You Know: Dr. Hill's extensive background includes a journey across the Atlantic, where she attended Harvard University in 1989, earning a master’s in Soviet Studies and a doctorate in history. Her academic pursuits also led her to Moscow, where she studied at the Maurice Thorez Institute of Foreign Languages.
