Wabakimi Paddling & Outpost Tour
My son and I had a 60 day canoe trip planned for Quetico Park, but were chased out of Quetico due to fires.
At that point we headed to Wabakmi and met up with my good friend Ian and his son Ethan who joined us for the first part of the trip.
It was a little different kind of trip as we were able to stay briefly in a number of different outpost camps located along our route. It really was the best of both worlds!

Mike, I am so sorry to hear of your mother’s passing! Thank you for sharing! For sharing this trip and of your mother’s going. My mother left a few months ago and so that news regarding your mom cutting short this awesome trip resonated with me. Carry on!
Sorry to hear about your mothers passing. I’ve enjoyed your Quetico Videos and now your Wabakimi. I’m assuming this was from 2021 and not last year since we had high water issues last year and not forest fires. Doing the Allenwater this year up into Whitewater, and out on Little Caribou. Enjoyed all the details as Ifollowmalong and try to figure out where you are and then annotate my gps and maps from those golden nuggets. Fishing looked pretty exceptional so I’m looking forward to that.
Fantastic trip, fishing and video. So glad I found it. So sorry about your mother. Say what happened to Ian and Ethan ?
Hey Mike, curious about what you are using for your weather updates on the go? and being out for extended periods of time.
