WARNING: before starting any repair, always make sure that the appliance is completely disconnected from the power source by unplugging the appliance.
Tools Needed:
Phillips head screwdriver
Flat head screwdriver
Putty knife
5/16" nut driver
Adhesive
Step-by-step how-to instructions for replacing the rear drum seal (part number W10612022) in a Maytag (Whirlpool) Dryer (model number MGDC300BW1)
1. Unplug dryer and turn off gas
2. Open dryer door
3. Loosen 2 top screws per hinge on dryer body and remove the other two screws
4. Lift up to remove door
5. Lay door on a flat surface
6. Pry out any remains of old door seal
7. Apply a thin line of adhesive around the door seal groove
8. Place new door seal carefully on adhesive
9. Clean up any adhesive that oozes out
10. Allow time to dry
11. Replace door on upper hinge screws and replace lower screws- tighten all
12. Close dryer door
13. Plug in dryer, turn on gas, and give it a test run!
