Here in Australia, most time we will just say - 'It is what it is' or 'We don't have a choice, so just make do with it'. 'My hands are tied' somehow means the same thing but we don't really say it much.

Just yesterday I was speaking to a friend, talking about physics and direct energy, some silly molecules and particles stuff, when he said to me, “it is what it is.” It’s always followed by, 「不然要怎麼樣？！」 無奈就是無奈。 It is what it is.

无奈: resigned. "Chris certainly knows how to push her buttons, and she is quite resigned to it." The phrases listed in the video are really useful in ceratin specific contexts.

English is my first language and I m a native mandarin speaker. We don’t say I can’t even to describe 无奈。 no control over is more like 无法掌控。 无奈 means more like helpless and not able to change the situation or condition...

I agree, I don't use 'I can't even' to express 无奈!! Helpless, frustrated.....but not" I can't even'.

我个人觉得英文在好些表达方式上与中文的表达有着根本的不同，没有一个真正对应无奈的词。 我个人最简单的表达无奈的方式：如果可以不用语言的话，我们只要用表情，耸耸肩, 两手翻一翻，中西方人应该都能意会出你要传达出那份无力、无奈的感觉。真要用语言的话，则视情况可加一句诸如 I wish I can help, but... It's what it is The decision maker has made the call. What can I do? I understand your frustrations, but I am not in the position to make a difference... 没绝对的标准词句，而是要另行找出对当时情况、心情的一个恰当的表达。

“Above my pay grade” 好像不是賺的錢少的意思，更像「職位低微了」、「人微言輕」、「無權過問」的感覺喔。

虽然不是abc，但是说实话以我的理解，更认同Maggie的解释，pay grade本来就是收入水平，above my pay grade字面意思真的就是价格超过我的承受能力的意思

How about one word？Resignedly.

I am not sure whether this is American English but we do not use "I can't even" to express "无奈“ in UK

Most mainland Chinese learn American English instead of British one, the thing is, they don't even know. They found the pretentious rolling tongue make them more English-speaking, which of course is wrong. Personally I found it pretentious, and thus a bit offensive. Maggie tries to speak fast to impress (which is again rather typical and common among non-native-English-speakers) but some of the sounds are just...well, typical mainland Chinese speaking American English. Anyway, she is trying very hard, let's appreciate it.

Given a different situation there is a different expression. You have to weigh carefully in order not to overreact or under state. There is no single phrase that would apply to all.

I am learning Chinese and is not that good at it but to the best of my understanding, I thought 無奈 is something we disagree but have to accept it. It can be a job, choice, or a political event...... My car is breaking down very often but I cannot afford to buy a new car and therefore, I have to keep driving this piece of junk. Isn't that 無奈?

I think “I am speechless” is more like 无奈 in most situations.

Feel helpless, out of my wiz, speechless, nothing I can do, no control over…so many ways to say it.

這個頻道比很多所謂的網紅很多了，一個是教使用在日常生活中，一個是拿來掙錢。

How about "I am speechless"? A few weeks ago, my American boss is unhappy about my work and he said "I am speechless". I told him: "Don't speak". I am glad I am still having this job.

I prefer this expression. “I can’t be even” will be full sentence from correct grammar stand point of you. “Long time no see” is ok but not follow grammar rules

無奈 simply means feeling helpless. There are many ways to express it in English depending on the circumstances. I would like to add one simple word 'whatever', it will suffice in some situations

most likely 'I can't even' is not what you believe it means e.g.: ‘This is just so ridiculously cute. I can't even.’

无奈 >>> out of patience >>> I had enough!

这样的解释和翻译，好像是把“无奈”拆分成各种场景，再用英语说出来。也就是说，基本上“无奈”一词在英文里没有完全对等的词汇，最接近的也许就是“(feel so) helpless”或“can't do anything about it”（用中文说就是“没办法”）。

That means there's no such word of "无奈" in English, otherwise why you have to use so many different ways to describe it. Just think about it. :)

Google search return the meaning of "I can't even" : used for emphasizing that something is very difficult to imagine, understand etc. I can't even begin to imagine what it's like for him, bringing up three kids on his own. Synonyms and related words. It doesn't seem to match "无奈"

Her English is very practical in China, in the US, no one can understand what she is saying, if you want to learn what folks on the street in the US to handle this, just say don't BS me, everyone understand what you mean.It is very polite.

Maggie, try this Chinese translation on your next episode "Since when it isn't all about me?"

It is what it is. 应该还有另一种说法 That's just the way it is...

可以留意她 "buttons" 的發音 類似的有important, patent, ...

In Chinese, 無奈 can be you dont know how to react to the person's action/conversation, and you just want to ignore him at that point. In that situation, I usually use "speechless", to make the point that I dont want to comment further. I am not sure if you have any other better way to say it. .

speechless is "无话可说“。 无奈 is when u cannot do anything. However, that does not stop u from speaking. In fact, even when u are 无奈, u can still be speaking a lot!!

I sometimes say “no comment” haha. And guess what people get this.

1. I can't even. 2. There's nothing I can do about it. 3. What is done is done. It is what it is. We will have to make do
