Revell didn't quite nail it though: no side reflectors. Not even a decal that I could see on the sheet. I'm more a Dormobile guy myself, but I'll build any bus kit.

Super video. In addition, I would put a half-inflated air mattress under the towel. When assembling, I would regularly rub my hands with onion sausage in between. Great video!

I learned how to drive in one of those. It had a Porsche motor.

I'm so thankful for your channel! I've learned a lot and jumped back into modeling. Your channel is a valuable toolbox of "how to's". I haven't built models since I was a kid and I'm having a blast. Many tricks as a kid I always wondered about. You opened up a whole new world for me!

Beautiful engineering. I love the plaid upholstery -- imagine painting that without the decals! Terrific job! Wouldn't it make the subject of a nice diorama?

Incredible job on the T2 Camper Chris! That interior detailing is outstanding! Can't wait to get one!

And another Vantastic kit build!! I love when you can just clear coat a model when it is molded in color and not have to apply paint first. Usually there are swirls in the plastic that make that impossible.

Super fun build. Loved your extra touches to take the “toy” out really works.

The only thing that would've made the video even better,is the music that would've been playing at Woodstock;Jimmy Hendrix and Peter Frampton comes to mind.This 1/24 scale VW T2 camper bus van would be perfect for a Woodstock diorama placing this VW camper van at Woodstock in the summer of 1969.

I learn to drive that vw here in Australia back in 1987. But it was blue. It was German import, it had petrol heater in it. Winter here you get couple night of of 0°C . The windows on the sides are givevaway of a German model

I've been looking forward to a build of this kit ever since I heard it was coming out. Looks like I'm going to have to add this to my collection as well! It all came together very nicely and I love the color scheme out of the box; very period correct.

Great build! Congrats! I also like it without the spare tire on the front. It looks so much better with the VW logo on! I'm also a model car collector myself and I've built some kits when I was a teenager. My kits don't look as good as yours, though!

This is a good example of how several different shades of similar colors will add depth and interest to your build. Many times, I will paint engine parts with four or five different shades of silver, gunmetal, aluminum, and chrome to give a look of separate parts. Everything painted one color, tends to look one dimensional. This is also a good reason to use that black undercoat. Paint will always look nice with a light touch - you can always add more, but it is difficult to take some off !

I got mine by accident three weeks ago and my plan is to build the Egyptian terrorist bus that chases Marty and the DeLorean in a mini diorama. Can't wait to finish it.

Wouldn't it have been easier to get the non-camper version and save yourself having to remove all the camper parts from this kit? The bus in the movie was not the camper although it did have the sliding sunroof which would be easier to create using the regular body. The regular bus is Revell 07667 and depicts either a Type 225, 281, or 235 (microbus and kombi versions with a sliding righthand door). The terrorists were Libyan, btw.

Growing up my neighbors had a grasshopper green one just like the model

I enjoy watching your channel. I like the way you keep builds simple...no fancy air brushing or filling, sanding... nothing wrong with that. This kit is a great kit, lots of details. Snap kit I built was the 60s batmobile that also had nice details. Have a great weekend.

It looks great! My only disappointment is that I want to build the "Dharma Van" from Lost, and it looks like I'll have buy both this kit AND the other, non-camper version as well. The other kit has the hard top this one does not, whereas this one has the side windows with the three horizontal panes the other one doesn't have -- need both to model the van we saw on screen (as well as a 3D-printed Dharma Initiative logo to replace the VW badge on the front).

I do like kits that come with sticker decals moor than decals you put in water

Great build video. Got me motivated to get one. Unfortunately when I tried to order one from Model RoundUp, it came up as "Out of Stock". So I saw some on Ebay; however, after looking closely, the Revell VW Camper models there are slightly different. These don't have the hinged and tilted up roof; instead, they have a flat closed roof but a doghouse that sticks up above the roof line. Based on locations of a Seller, it seems that this one you built was for the European market and this "doghouse" type is for the North American market? Are you aware there are 2 very similar releases but not exactly the same? I'm more fond of the tilted roof as you have.

Two eras of buses down; Hasegawa and Revell's 1963-67 style bodies and now Revell's 1972-79 (sorta) versions. Someone needs to step up and release the barn door models, the 56-62's, and the 1968-71 early Bay windows. And we seriously need a doka splittie.

I had some made to cut down on how many times I need to watermark the video to stop people from stealing my images and footage. Was about $25 on Amazon and took a couple weeks to get in.

Cheap craft store brushes, I think they are sable hair? I paid about 99 cents each for them many years ago, I have dozens of them.

How come your spray paints dry quickly? How long does it take to dry?

Builders need to have some patience ! Most sprays will be fully cured in about 24 hours. People get too anxious to pick-up and inspect after only a short time and this is a good way to ruin an other wise very smooth paint job. A food dehydrator is a good way to speed up the curing time but allowing overnight drying is best.

How long do you let primer dry on the body, and the smaller parts? I seen an instructional video you presented with some building tips , painting facts etc. but cant keep up with all your postings ! While growing up, like many viewers I have owned a bunch of the original first time release kits. I actually lived about a mile from the AMT studio building in E Detroit ( actually close to St. Clair Shores MIch.) and have driven past it even to this day thousands of times. . Girlfriends mom worked at MPC in Mt Clemens Mich on the model line. Not many know what the smell of a fresh shrink wrapped kit smells and feels like warm in the box! She would bring me home the latest runs right off the line. It was nice being one of the few who enjoyed receiving kits that had not even hit the shelf yet… I was very close to a lot of the model manufactures growing up. Jo Hann, was another I remember vividly. Was a very fun time in life when 4 or 5 friends would gather at ones kitchen table covered with newspaper to keep the 15 cent bottles of Testors brush paint from ruining moms antique table. The contest would end sometimes with the best body paint, or best clear glue free windshield install. Since sprays were often expensive we shared many Testors brush paints. FLAT BLACK ALWAYS seemed to be in high demand. What a great time to be growing up. Memories that are still imbedded with my kit building today at 58 years old. Thanks for the great videos Chris. I think you are passing something very solid down to our youngsters in these times. Models lead to real vehicles, car shows, learning restoration , and of course back to modeling!

Thanks, I go from wet primer to paint coats very fast. The primer flash dries in minutes and I set them in a food dehydrator at 110 degrees to speed it up.

Could you just Dull coat the black, brown and grey parts to give them a painted look rather than paint them

I have done that, sometimes it looks ok and others it doesn't look near as good as a coat of paint. Depends on the plastic.
