VW Vanagon - Truckfridge TF49 cooling and cycling time lapse

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

What kind of duty cycle are people getting with their Truckfridges in the real world? The TF49 manual says it draws 6 Amps with a 1/3 duty cycle, meaning the fridge runs 20 minutes out of every hour. Doesn't specify an external temp for 1/3 duty cycle.
I'm in Texas right now where it's very humid (it just rained) and 73° and I'm seeing just under 2/3 duty cycle, which I'm not totally thrilled by. This unit is used but I've added 1" purple insulating foam to nearly every surface of the fridge. The fridge door seems to close/seal very nicely.
I use an InkBird thermostat (set to 37° with a 3° swing) instead of the stock TF49 thermostat.
For anyone who's counting, it's taking about 14 minutes to cool from 40° to 37° and only about 8.5 minutes to warm back up to 40°

73 really isn't that hot for Texas...I have yet to install mine, but I am working on it today, and until it is in. I had all the cabinets out to fix the rusty side panel and paint it.

Exactly... when it was 95 it would run a very long time to cool to 37 and would race back to 40 even faster. Before installing, I put 1" solid pink insulation on 5 sides of the fridge. I bought the thing used, so maybe its cooling power isn't what it should be, fine, but why would its ability to *keep* stuff cool be so bad.... I'm baffled. I would greatly appreciate if you share your experience when your install is done. Good luck!
