I thought similar about the led drain. Looked into it and we would be dead before the led uses all the power from the battery

Adding LED or HID bulbs to non-projector headlights is a massive no-no; the beam patterm has too much scatter and it lights up the reflector too much, blinding oncoming drivers. Its perfectly OK on projectors but really uncool on this type of light.

Tony Ward also wouldn’t sell them if they were deemed that unsafe would they 🤷🏻‍♂️🤔. Worked well in this van no problems at all.

Agree with others good video & id also like link fit where you got 3 dash control knobs / which live feed fuse used as I’d like to hardwire dash cam Cheers Davie Glassford

I’ve got LED bulbs but not fitted yet, did you leave the rubber back off the light or put it back on as I have read they can get very hot and someone recommended leaving off, but on other video people put them back on. Good job with what you have done

Bud, your side repeaters are upside down or the wrong way round, they should light from front to back. 👍

nellywess I used number 6 on the bottom fuse board. I just wanted a low rated one 7.5 I think it is. It just for a light on the instrument panel I believe. I had no book (fuse guide) with my van tho so I’m just going on the confusion you come across on the internet lol

Hi. Thanks for the comments and i don’t mind helping if I can. I’m not a professional and the vans on the channel are my own. Apart from the custom (it’s my sisters van) With VW transporters there are short and long wheelbases, standard, medium and high roof heights and four trim levels - Startline, Trendline, Highline and Sportline - as just the basic choices The white one on this channel is short wheelbase standard hight and basic start-line trim. The van started life as a 3 seater panel van. The silver one on this channel is a short wheelbase standard hight high-line modal Panel van Hope this helps.

Project Life. Yes, that is a great help, thank you. I have done a lot of reading up, and have realised there is quite a few variants. I think I will end up with a swb standard height van, in either a panel or a crew type van. I don't necessarily want to buy a van with big mileage unless it has good history, and, or, major components replaced if high mileage, but I see you did with your T6, but replaced what was required to give your peace of mind. To buy, or to do some of the work myself ? That's a big question. Although I consider myself to be very practical, and originally from an engineering background, I've had a hard pill to swallow over the last 15 months, major surgery last March, I hoped that would be it, no, a heavy duty course of chemotherapy to follow, a wiped out immune system right amid the Covid pandemic has not been helpful. I hoped to tick this box at the start of 2020, but it wasn't to be. It is something that I have yearned for quite a while, so after last year, I just want to do it now as I feel time is running out for me, particularly as I have just had my 68th birthday. I need to bite the bullet, find a suitable van, and get started. Sorry I've banged on, but that's the story. I don't want to buy in haste and regret it though. I hope we can keep in touch, and I'm going to go through the rest of your very impressive workmanship. Thank you for responding. Phil.

@@smiffywildlife There is a lot variables to consider with these vans tho tbh and it will come down to what your going to be using it for. Camping ? Travailing ? Day to day use ? I find the short wheelbase ones better for the day to day use, parking etc As long as the vans have good history and well maintained then I’ve seen them pass 300k mile mark It’s around the 150k mark where more expensive things need changing and addressing like flywheels clutches things like that. So look for them things when buying a van. My T6 I did have to have mechanical things done and I made sure it was done by VW or a proven mechanic. All the interior conversion was done by myself on both vans.

Project Life . Yes, I'm realising that you did the work on your own vans, and I must say, they are a credit to you. You sister is very lucky to have such a craftsman as a brother, but I'm sure she appreciated what you have done for her on her ford custom van, I know I would be. Thank you for the information regarding the mechanics, and the usage. I'm expecting this to be my "forever van" and it will be used for my everyday needs, trips out, and overnight stays. I had come to the conclusion that the swb low/standard top van will probably be my preferred choice, unless something really "jumps out" at me, if you get me. I appreciate your advice in helping me to make my choice, and hopefully, realise a dream.

Dax Wax I bough the headlight ones off eBay I’ve just looked but are not available anymore. I can’t remember the name tbh. Worked fine tho paid £12 for them

It’s a fabric not a spray in the rear It’s just black spray paint in the cab 👌🏻

Did you take lower bumper grill out to spray black??

lowie lawrence I never sprayed the grill it was done when I got the van. I just fitted the black badge septet to the grill. I’d say you’d need to take the grill out to spay it tho. Better easier job then. And I’m sure it’s not hard to take out. 👍🏻 hope this helps

The van has been sold now over 12 months. I had no issue with MOT and lights 🤷🏻‍♂️ and had no one coming back saying so
