Hi, my release/lock mechanism wheel broke. How hard is it to replace the headlight bracket? Do I need to remove the front bumper? Will I need to adjust my headlights after? Thank you

I just replaced both afs modules and my afs system is still not functioning. “Afs no function, veh. Wallet.” Any suggestions? Do the used afs modules need to be coded to the new vehicle? Thank you

Normally used ones go straight without coding, but since both are changed, still might need coding.

No, they are not interchangeable. Black ones are AFS type the clear ones just standard non-adaptive ones. Otherwise their shapes are same

Hi, I’m lost. I have a 2007 Touareg with bi-xenon headlights. My low and high beams work but I get the afs no function on my dash as well as the flashing yellow bulb. None of the 4 motors are functioning and the cornering lights dont work either. Can you please point me in a general direction to diagnose? Thank you

if headlight motors are not functioning (especially the horizontal ones below the projectors) your headlight should have a severe condensation/water ingress issue. Motors are mainly mechanical parts which hardly get damaged, unless there is a severe moisture/water ingress. You have a low/high beam since your ballast is vertically positioned, but it is a matter of time for them to burn as well. If the motors are faulty, probably the afs modules are already burnt due to moisture water ingress. Replacing any part without finding the source of moisture/condensation/water ingress issue is simply throwing money to the wind at these headlights.

@@xenonland wow thank you so much for the quick reply, I was wandering how both afs modules would go bad or if there’s one module to control both. That makes great sense because of the location of the afs modules.

Exactly these modules (which are sided) control the AFS function. They are located at the bottom of the headlights, hence couple of water drops are enough to burn them. Check your headlight body for crack(s) and the back covers if they are intact.

Upgrade from halogen to AFS Xenon lights is extremely expensive process if you want them fully working. In order to make them FULLY WORK, including AFS function, a lot of parts should be change. Cornering light and headlight range control unit, should be changed, main light module, even in some cases the switches, steering angle sensor, onboard supply control unit, and many more. AFS function interacts with all above mentioned modules and ecus and works accordingly. Just get the adapters and make the low and high beam work. The rest practically impossible/not feasible as far as the cost concerned.

My Touareg 2005 V8 has dashboard error "headlight range sensor". VW technicians can't find/understand the problem. (????). The headlight lenses have fine cracks, and one removal mechanism is broken. I suspect they are not for this car and they're a cheap solution!! (the VIN: WVGMM7L 7L05002244) it tells me headlight 7L6941017BL/018BL and headlight range sensor 3D0909157/158. Any checking method to verify the error message?? Tx

  • @xenonland

You have a xenon NON-AFS type. Headlight range sensor is NOT 3D0909157/158. These are ballasts and powers your xenon bulb and controls vertical aim. Headlight range sensor is like 7L0616214 (just google it and you will see the shape-your one might be with different part number!). Headlight range sensor if remember correctly is located behind the front wheel. When you remove the wheel you should see it. Just check its plug, usually cables that goes to the connector plug are corroded. Or your sensor might be water damaged. We hope this helps
