The reason it's 85 bhp to start with is because vw sell commercial vehicles all over the world, some of which countries have low grade fuel. The ecu is detuned so that the injectors, fuel pump and other components are not stressed and working well within their tolerances should low grade fuel be used for hundreds of thousands of miles. In the UK we have very high grade pretrol and super diesel so we can then alter the ECU to operate at max tolerance for components and not have an impact on the longevity of them.

Ha, it’s still fine.

I’m told to get 150bhp out of the 84bhp engine the turbo needs to be upgraded. If I keep the original turbo then only 105bhp is achievable?

I got I done in Remapping the way Ltd. It took around and hour and the lads are extremely helpful. I would totally recommend them.

Just brought myself an early t5 how's your van still running pal. Have you done many miles since its been done? Any long journeys? Noticed any difference in mpg?
