Legend! I replaced the alternator only to find out it did not resolve the issue. I pulled away the plastic sheath only to find a broken cable. Soldered the lot and sealed it with heatshrink and it's all sorted. Thank you so much for showing this.

I would like to thank you for your video. I steam cleaned my engine then found my oil pressure light was flashing so after watching you video I checked my wires and found One was broken so I soldered it back together and now my light goes out like it’s supposed to. So I guess it got broken when I cleaned the engine. Thanks again ✅✅✅

Hi I had the same problem on my 1998 VW t4 a few years ago. I fitted a small bracket, that the white connect block can slot into. Keeps connecter and cables from moving around . And neat..

youra god send, my instrument cluster has gone blank ive just found a hanging blue wire could it be?

Great job, I have just bought a 1996 T4 Caravelle. Can I fit one of those volt indicators to my van? And I would like to change the steering wheel too, so can you recommend one? Or something similar to the one you have? Cheers

A family member is currently having this issue with her van, except it's a red flashing warning light and beep intermittently (will sometimes go off by its self or will go off after pulling over an turning engine off) only AFTER having a routine oil & filter change. Had a 2nd oil, filter change and new oil pressure switch put in. Still doing it. Garage say oil pressure is good. Maintains normal temp, no strange sounds of any kind, no loss of power. At a total loss of what this could be...

Could be electrical, the cable could have a high resistance point (only a stand or two left not broken)

@@pdubs7831 Are you talking about the wire on the alternator? Also read and heard it could even be a dash cluster fault? It's had a code reader plugged into it twice now and it's not throwing any fault codes up either. It's meant to be going to a VW garage next and I don't hold much hope there. If you couldn't tell already I'm not really mechanically minded, so something like this is frustrating haha

@@Ashplaysdrums_ when a cables plastic shielding like this gets damaged usually from something rubbing on it over a long period of time etc. water corrosion on the exposed inner core eats away at and breaks in down. The resistance can change and cause a intermittent fault.

@@pdubs7831 It's been at our local VW garage and they've recently fitted a new alternator, wires etc as they said it all looked a bit worn. Said the issue is still there and the oil pressure is dropping down to 1.3bar? I'm not sure what that means but none the less have said it's losing pressure but they'd feel hesitant about putting a new pump on an older motor. What problems could this present, if any? I know this T4 engines get a load of praise for being "bullet proof" and it's only got 160k on the clock which apparently is nothing for these engines lol

Was this sorted ? I have same issue flashing and beeping, stopped the van did a self diagnostics, cooling the radiator, adding more oil. possible cause of such case was faulty sensor or oil pump not working, but since i saw this video I'm just curious about why the alternator should affect such a warning light.

Nice one buddy... great simple little fix... little bit of detective work an you saved yourself a few bob. Whats the horn light for next to the voltmeter? Is it the actual horn to replace the steering wheel horn? ( probably a real stupid question). The reason i ask is my horn is very tempremental and thenprevious owner knackered the airbag clips so i cant get the steering wheel off to sort it... so if that is a push button horn you have and it passes the MOT, id love to know how to fit one and also how to fit the voltmeter... im not a sparky at all, but i can follow instructions. Yes that’s the horn button! It passes mot with that. Would love to get the button on the steering wheel sorted but it needs a new indicator stork and I needed to do something fast to get it ready for mot and Scotland trip. Volt meter is simply a case of connecting a positive and negative. Several ways of doing it depending on if you want it on with just ignition which you can take from the back of the radio or put it on a switch so you can have it on when parked up if you don’t have a leisure battery. Also no question is a stupid question, if your not sure about something, chances are there’s also some one else thinking the same thing too afraid to ask 👍
